Keegan give me the best time as a fan following this club, we'd have been rotting if it wasn't for this man, no doubt about it. He gave most of my family two of the best times of supporting this club. He made this club and it's fans feel how it should feel, he is one of us, he understands us, he was one of the true romantics left in a game ruined by money, a game which has forgot where it has come from and who put it where it is, that's right the fans. Keegan understood all of this, Keegan believed in his players playing the right way. Everyone of his players had his ultimate confidence, they all enjoyed playing for him, as he enjoyed having them play for him. They all understood what Keegan is, a man of the game. I understand what Keegan is, he was never the Messiah he was made out to be, but he came in pretty close.

 

Thank you for everything you've done for this club Kevin Keegan. The game as proven on your final departure has taken a turn in the wrong direction, you could see this, you tried to fight this. But ultimately you lost your battle. I still love you, I won't ever forget what you've done for this football club and this city.

Tough call. I had moved away from the area by the time SBR became manager so its difficult for me to call.

For me, there was an air and an atmosphere about the whole area when KK was in charge. Couldnt honestly describe what it was  but 7 days a week, I felt like I walked around the area 10 feet tall. There was just a buzz. I felt like most of the country wanted to be a Newcastle fan and wanted to be part of it. I felt privileged to be a part of it.

 

Would be interested to know if that feeling was there during SBR's time. Part of me suspects it might have been different as prior to KK we had been completely in the dumps and to have a team like the one he produced was alien to most, if not all of us.

Even this time when he came back, he did it again. The whole place changed, the mood changed, we all looked forward to the matches again, alright it was short lived this time, but it happened again. Since 2004 we'd been in the doldrums, no optimisim, no nothing, Keegan strolls in and it went crazy. Again. Theres just something about the man. What other manager could possibly make thousands of us rush to St James' on a cold Wednesday night for an FA Cup replay against Stoke? Nobody like him. He was one of us, he is one of us, he always will be one of us.

However, when KK signed for us as a player, it was a world superstar joining MY club. A club that had struggled for years with a team of relative nobodies.

Crowds doubled. The buzz around the City was immense. I thought i was dreaming when he ran out of that tunnel in OUR black and white stripes. Unforgetable!
