Does Ashley want us relegated?

OK he did sanction £10m for Collocini, but wasn't that before he found out he had to stump up an extra £57m.

No.

Also if a decent offer comes in for him, ie £15m, what are the odds that he is sold?

You mean like we bought Woodgate for £9 million and sold him for £13.4 million? Gosh, you don't think Shepherd was also trying to get the club relegated?

As for relegation to the Championship, in all likliehood, he would still be able to recoup what he paid for the club.

Yeah, in the current economic climate, investors all over the world are just gagging to spend £240 million on Championship clubs.

Worryingly Ashley doesn't seem to understand football in any context and seems to be quite delusional.

Because he tried (and failed) to copy a management model used elsewhere to varying degrees of success?

He's made severe mistakes and he's got a lot to learn about the football industry if he's going to continue to have a part to play in it.

But yeah, let's just call him unsubstantiated and agenda-ridden stuff like 'delusional'.

The fact he called it the Arsenal model for a start clearly shows he knows nothing about football. Especially as Wenger came out and backed Keegan.

Aye, right, what on earth do Arsenal have to do with a strategy of not overspending on marquee signings and instead developing gifted young players?

Or not letting the manager have full control?

You think that's what he meant when he talked of "the Arsenal model"?

Then it clearly isn't the Arsenal model is it if the manager doesn't have full control. Not a hard concept to grasp.

Besides if we were to get relegated, I doubt we'd come back up for a long, long time.

And if we were by chance to get promoted back to the Premier League, would Ashley invest to a significant level to keep us in the league?

Absolutely.  Also, the water board are spying on your through a camera hidden in your televison and that weather girl you send fan mail to is giving you coded messages in her forcasts.  Your GP is in on the Ashley conspiracy as well, those pills he's given you are actually slowly poisoning you in order to keep you quiet about it, stop taking them.

I think that part of it was more of an attempt at the 'Real Madrid' model - although I don't think most managers would really mind if the club were trying to bring in players like Ronaldo over their head, which is a bit of a different kettle of fish to being lumbered with a few continental rejects who are going to warm the bench while you have positions that still need urgently filled.

I've been thinking about this scenario for some weeks now and I just wonder.  Ashley has the reputation of being a really hard headed ruthless buisness man who steamrollers his way through deals.

Which is exactly why he wouldn't want us to get fucking relegated you tit. Some posts here are fucking laughable honestly.

On one hand he doesnt want us relegated because it doesnt make sense on any level. But on the other hand he doesnt want us relegated because it doesnt make sense on any level.
