Syrette
Why do some people assume that any money they spend on the club goes straight into Ashley's pocket? Is this based primarily on the fact that we don't seem to (net) spend much? Or are you just making stuff up to suit your agenda? Didn't he loan money to the club to pay off the debts? Is it unreasonable to assume that some of the money spent on merchandise and tickets goes towards paying off that loan? No, and nothing I said suggests I think that some of it going in that direction is unreasonable. I do think it is unreasonable to assume that any money you do spend on the club automatically goes into his personal bank balance, though.

People are just pissed off because they spend so much money on a team that never gets any better. They're right to wonder where the hell that money ends up. Or if he hadn't paid off the debts himself then money spent on merchandise and tickets could have been used to pay off the original lenders debts and interest on them. Shearergol
You're right thomas, I am retarded for having given more than £2000 to this charlatan during a recession. Must be great not to have to bother and be able to pass judgement on those who do though. Not a dig at you personally Wullie, but why don't you see it as paying 2 grand to support the club, rather than to fill Ashley's coffers? At the end of the day isn't that the whole point? I wish I lived in the UK to follow the team around, but life isn't that simple. The money should be supporting the club but it isn't. It's paying for one tiny fraction of Mike's casino chips on any given night. I don't give a shit about people supporting the club from far and wide, good on them. I do however have a problem with them calling me a retard because I haven't the first interest in hearing more of Mike Ashley's lies. Very easy to say when you don't sit through humiliation every week at St James' and don't pay good money to have the piss taken out of you. Your money goes to pay Duff's wages

Robster
Can't believe Mike Ashley is planning to make an announcement to coincide with the 108-year anniversary of Queen Victoria's death. I hope the NUSC release a bitchy statement to Sky Sports News. Is there any need to go down that tangent. NE5 gets vilified for always bringing Old Board/New Board arguments into completely unrelated threads. Plenty of people on here like him yet avoid criticism. EDIT :Not trying to specifically point the finger at you O-N but I just didnt think that kind of comment was required or relevant It was funny though, which I'm guessing was his intention? Christ, looks like because we're in the shit, we're not allowed to have a laugh now There's just a sarcasm, and an attempt to get a reaction behind the comment that I personally have had enough of seeing on this board. Anyway. Apologies for snapping. Had that bloody virus for 2 days, had a wanky week at work where today I have had to have a dismissal hearing with the guy I have worked with for 12 months and I am just fed up to the back teeth of my club being the laughing stock. Not in the best of moods generally.

Parky
To tell us now that MA is going to make a statement when the window closes is good psychology on their part, it implies that they are focussed on the window and that they recognise that this window is important to us. It also cleverly puts MA back in the center of things, when we're actually all trying to forget about the dopey fat git. Textbook. I'm with Wullie on this, for if he was a sincere man he and the management team of the club would have kept us sufficently abreast of things and continued an ongoing dialogue through good times and bad. I suspect MA is looking to re-engage back with the club and supporters now that his business world looks depressing by the day. Whatever he says I would take it with a pinch of salt, unless we've signes a handful of quality players that is.
