What kind of player is he?

Fast, skillfull, winger. Been taking the piss out of the U15s, but that's probably due to his speed and physical form. Has had some OK passes, but its mainly speed and skill, which will probably be kicked out of him.

Think Dalglish picked them up.

First game of the season on Tuesday night for the reserves with an away game against the mackems at the SOL.  NUFC fans are in the usual away end,  £3 to get in(£1 for kids, just like their first team!).

Normally they are cracking matches, if i was picking the team Campbell and Guthrie(if he shakes off his injury) would both play as they need minutes on the pitch to get fit, especially Campbell.

Kids kick off in 30 mins.

Hopefully get to see some of the new ones play, I've never seen before. Seems we've got a really young U18s this season.

The 1st half was pretty poor, and was all MK Dons. Both of their goals came from the flanks, with crosses troubling Alnwick. Their #10 Igor Curonado ran the show for them in the middle, making tireless runs and constantly keeping the ball moving. He was rewarded with a their 1st goal, heading home a cross from the left. He was involved in their second too, playing a smart through ball between Nzuzi and Smith that allowed #7 Fuad Ahmed to put in a cross from the right for #9 Charlie Collins to head home from 6 yards out.

If I'm being overly harsh no one stood out in the first 45mins for Newcastle. There was very little movement or energy, and more crucially for me - no communication. Alnwick should have done better with the crosses into the area, especially since they were aimed into the 6 yard box. However, this was an issue I had with him last season (weak in the air), and seems to have carried over this season too. Hopefully the Academy Keeper coach (who's name I have finally found out!) can work on it, as Alnwick's shot stopping is fantastic.

The second half really was a totally different half.

From the kick off Newcastle showed more energy and direction than the previous 45 mins. Sammy Ameobi took the ball and dribbled the whole half, and seemingly the entire MK Dons' team before his shot narrow from 6 yards out was deflected for a corner. From the resulting corner Newcastle scored, a fantastic flighted ball was powered home by a very brave Jeff Henderson header, throwing his body into the mix with fists and feet flying. That goal turned the tide and put MK Dons on the back foot. For most of the 2nd half it was all Newcastle.

Ameobi was often the main threat, carrying the ball down the right flank with his bizarre physic defying legs and ball control. With Ameobi in the game and occupying the MK Dons' Left side, it allowed Alex Nicholson to get into the game and make some good overlapping runs. It was his cross mid way through the 2nd half that saw Michael Richardson head home for the equaliser.

Ben Sayer came on at half time for Ryan Page was the stand out player for me. He showed fantastic composure and vision on the ball and seemed happy to mix his passing from quick short range passes to keep the game flowing, to some very confident 20-30 yard cross field balls behind the full back. He linked up well with his old team mate Dennis Knight too, and almost put Knight through on a number occasions.

Later on in the 2nd half Marcus Maddison came on for Ryan McGorrigan and had a chance to score after racing onto a fantastic through ball from Ben Sayer. MK Dons' Keeper, a huge lad that looks like the next Neville Southall, raced out of the area to close the ball down. A crunching 50/50 tackle followed that thankfully saw both players kick the ball at the same time, rather than each other. The resulting impact saw both players feeling the impact for a few minutes afterwards. One thing that should be noted is that Marcus Maddison has one hell of a left foot shot.

Those who watched last season should be prepared for a different type of football this season, though its too be expected with half of the team gone and replaced with new 1st year scholars. Hopefully Sammy Ameobi will step up and take some responsibility as a senior squad member, as he helped turn the game in the 2nd half when he imposed himself on the game.

They're wrong, it was  2-2 Jeff Henderson and Michael Richardson. Bare in mind this is .com that list several players out of position, and not even at the club at youth level.

Have a feeling they've read someone's match report... They've updated their score and brief match description.

Reckon we'll see Haris, Donaldson, Soderberg, Kadar, Tavernier, Ferguson, Ranger and Inman against the mackems?

Hopefully but i'm not sure if the likes of Haris, Kadar, Inman, Ferguson etc have been called up for international duty.
