How would this make the league far worse than it currently is.. ? The clubs would just have to spend more time developing English talent than looking overseas for cheaper alternatives...the more chances English players got...the more theyd get to work with the best foreign stars also & the chance to learn from them..the more match experience they'd get etc etc. I dont see how this couldnt possibly be beneficial to ENGLISH football. I couldn't give a fuck about the comedy Ligue or for that matter Serie A and the Spanish league, who have have leeched players from other countries for years. The fact is that we, in England, are prepared to pay more for our football (through season-tickets or Sky/Setanta) than others and we can afford the best players. Simple. It hasn't worked ANYWHERE, least of all in the UK, looking at the ridiculous debts that the current Govt have created, but there are far too many people who won't see the light - NOT that any of the UK political parties are any better... In fact, Blatter is correct - there SHOULD be more emphasis on forcing ALL clubs to develop their own players with an emphasis on English ones - clubs in the Bundesliga have mainly German players in their sides. But a little "socialism" or equal opportunity for clubs in the Premier League will look like a much brighter idea when we are looking up from the fizzy pop. Man Utd and their cuntish supporters will be winning trophies for the remainder of the century unless we take some measures to ensure that a small group of clubs are not able to monopolize all the money, talent and interest in the game. It simply isn't fair that the top 4 battle for Champions League, the middle 4 battle for mid table, and the rest of the league fight relegation. f*** that. Guest helios_centric Posted March 7, 2009 Share Posted March 7, 2009 While the big guns in the Premier League may be extremely strong, the chasing pack to me looks way weaker than it did just a few years ago. I do agree with a fair amount of what he says, although yes I agree he does seem to take a delight in getting digs in at England. Our league is not particularly exciting in the way it was 10-15 years ago where a shock team could rise from the chasing group without warning and realistically challenge. I think the 6+5 rule is essential to help the game in this country. I don't think it would significantly weaken the game - perhaps marginally from a purely technical standpoint, but the resulting games would, in my opinion, be more exciting to watch. Let's face it, barring filthy rich new ownership, nobody looks likely to break the current big 4 domination in the forseeable future and that is not a healthy, competitive situation. As difficult as it is to defend Sepp "Motormouth" Blatter, he only became FIFA President in 1998. Yes, he was blathering on before he was top dog, but he wasn't granted the kind of forum that gives his ramblings "credence" until after 1998... I have no problem with top foreign imports, but there is also a lot of foreign shite in the game who add nothing but hold back the development of younger players. Goodwin IS culpable - but not as much a Gordon Brown who instructed the FSA to have a 'Light touch' on Regulating the Banks...Adair Turner, the Chairman of the FSA told the Commons Select Committee that this was the case. Goodwin has, sadly, every right to keep his Pension although seeing as Brown has wrecked all but those in the Public Sector, maybe Goodwin should get his reduced too...! That all started in the 80s with the Tories under Thatcher, Brown and Blair just carried on with it. You can't pick out either party to blame for this, as it would have been exactly the same under either of them.
