Guest BooBoo
England are so god damned boring. I bet we'll be one of the poorest sides to watch in this tournament.
Mole_Toonfan
Hart Walker Rio Cahill Cole Walcott Parker Scholes Young Lampard Rooney About as good as we can pick tbh, although i prefer Lescott and Richards to Cahill and Walker its minor nit picking... I do wonder if Scholes refuses any call up who you would want him in his place? as the options are very small indeed.
Revolution
Hmm, Carrick perhaps? I have not really seen Cleverley enough to comment. I hope we don't end up with Gerrard in there somewhere, I'm not a fan at all.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
got a bollocking off two mates the other day for saying I probably won't really 'get behind' England in Euro 2012 and I'm more interested in Cabaye and Ben Arfa doing well for France. Fenham Mag
You have Scholes (and Gerrard) instead of Lampard because that'd mean a lack of pace? Right. Something I think you'd appreciate http://bigyellowtaxi.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/lampard.jpg Wish I had this body. Perfection

Zach
Can't see Scholes actually wanting to go and if he doesn't we have got sweet F.A in terms of creativity compared to the top sides.

Aye, doubt Scholes goes at all. Best bet might be to shut down the middle with Carrick and Parker and attack up the lanes. One thing they've got in spades is speed on the outside. Guest Chubby Jason
Why wouldn't Scholes want to go? Has he got something better on during that month?
Ash
Hodgson has apparently been begging Scholes to go. Scholes has asked for assurances on the shape of the team and what role he'd be deployed in. Ferguson doesn't want Scholes to go.

Deuce
Why wouldn't Scholes want to go? Has he got something better on during that month? He hasn't played internationally since '04. If England were projected to fare pretty well, I could see him coming out for one last hurrah. But I don't think he'll come out for a squad not projected to get much past the quarters with or without him.

He thinks Scholes will end up going should Hodgson tell him what he wants to hear and although it isn't what he wants, Fergie accepts he'll probably want to go too knowing it's his last chance for England. I literally can see no downside to someone in his position going to play in a huge tournament like this. He'd be a total moron to spurn such an opportunity. Ah right, fair enough. I can't imagine his demands will be too great really. Surely just "play me in the middle, not on the left".

Considering their lack of finesse from anyone else in the middle, Hodgson would be dumb not to play him there.

Considering their lack of finesse from anyone else in the middle, Hodgson would be dumb not to play him there. Our lack of creativity and his chronic lack of pace, it'd be bizarre to say the least. It's sad that two years ago at the world cup there was talk of him coming back to bring on as a sub to keep possession. Now we've regressed so much that he will be one of the first names on the team sheet.
BrettNUFC
Do we actually want Paul Scholes back? If you look at the alternatives, then yes. The joker quit England first time around because he was huffed at playing on the left to accommodate Lampard and Gerrard in the middle and then turned us down last WC when we offered him the chance to come back. It's embarrassing that we are begging a 37 year old out of retirement a week before the squad is announced and a month before the tournament starts. Zach
It is bad that we would need Scholes but what are the alternatives? Not overly confident about the Euro's to say the least.
STM
IMO, Scholes is the best centre midfielder the premiership has had and comfortably the best centre midfielder England has had in about 15 year. England still need him.

The best central midfielder England has had for the last 20 years should never have been forced out wide to accommodate Gerrard and Lampard, a central midfield pairing that after near 10 years has never looked close to working.
