Ronaldo
See Adam Johnson's comments the other day about having no chance of getting in the squad if you don't play for a top 8 side? Think there's something in that tbh. There is, but a lot of it's to do with the 'top' clubs hoovering up all the young talent.
Interpolic
Fair comment. I reckon Johnson himself has deserved at least a chance in the squad though.
Ronaldo
Bit rich of Johnson coming out with that, mind. He's been incredibly below national squad standards for 3 years with the exception of one month.
ponsaelius
Johnson has had 1 good month at Sunderland. There's better players to take.

Think there's something in that tbh. Probably because the better players tend to play for teams in the top 8. Also, he's just said top 8 because Southampton are eighth at the moment and they have some players in the squad. In reality, if Southampton are able to get players in the squad, any team can if they have players up to that level.

Ronaldo
They're 9th.
Interpolic
They weren't 9th last week. Maybe he said top half, dunno.

Ronaldo
What a detestable prick. No mention in that article of the fact most of the mackems wanted him out of their first Xl not so long back.

leffe186
Delph could be an outside shout for the England squad if he keeps this form up. Definitely rate him more than Cleverly! He's certainly been much better this year, but if he's our best option then it doesn't say a lot about our all-round quality.
Ronaldo
Cleverley shouldn't be in the squad either. We've got at least 5 CMs better than the pair of them.
Mole_Toonfan
Cleverly shouldn't be in the squad either. We've got at least 5 CMs better than the pair of them. Going back to Johnson he shouldn't be either, i can think of a similar number of wide players which i'd take before him. Whether they are forwards like Rodriguez/Welbeck who are comfortable wide, Sterling who is just a straight winger or attacking midfielders like Lallana with the ability to float from wide positions i can think of plenty who should be on the plane before him. Same goes for Cleverly, unfortunately we don't have similar luxuries at the back.
ElDiablo
Hart Forster Foster G Johnson Smalling Jones Cahill Jagielka Caulker Cole Shaw Gerrard Lampard Henderson Lallana Barkley Carrick Milner Sterling Welbeck Rooney Sturridge Lambert My squad in case anyone was wondering. #bored #fuckubaines
Ronaldo
Lambert, Milner and Forster out for Rodriguez, Somebody Else and Ruddy. Good squad, though.
Interpolic
Would be good if the likes of Barkley, Lallana and Sturridge broke through in a big way.
Ronaldo
Sturridge is already guaranteed to start, tbh.
Guest neesy111
If Rooney and Sturridge click, then we should easily have enough goals to have a good tournament.
AyeDubbleYoo
Sturridge is already guaranteed to start, tbh. Mental if he isn't really.
Interpolic
Sturridge is already guaranteed to start, tbh. Aye you'd have thought so, just mean it would be good if they announced themselves on the world stage, as the phrase goes. Barkley in particular. ponsaelius
They'll probably all play like they've never seen a football before tbh.
Pilko
If Rooney and Sturridge click, then we should easily have enough goals to have a good tournament. You're assuming that Rooney will have his first remotely effective game at a tournament since Euro 2004.
