   that is fucking hillarious.

i live in london and i haven't got as much stick as i expected really. there's still the banter, but most people i know say (whether truthful or not) that they cant believe we went down and we dont deserve to (the fans not the club) and that they would rather us stay up.

then again there was an applause in my uni bar when we got relegated so, it probably varies from place to place.

Offer each one who took that hilariously funny offer up a swift quick in the balls every time we get ten points next year and see how much the odds come down.

Fact is, this season to them is their equivalent of our 100 games in Europe, going to the San Siro, beating Man U 5-0, tonking them 4-1 at their place, finishing above Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc all rolled into one so you've got to expect their forum will explode like they've won the league.  Liverpool have that night in Istanbul, Sunderland have that season where they were fucking dire but, hey, the Mags got relegated.  When's the official DVD coming out?

Don't really think we're in any position to have a pop atm. We're a shambles on and off the field and they've just appointed a decent manager and given him £50m to spend.

Let's get our own house in order before taking the piss, eh?  ???

Give your head a shake man, it's just craic!!

True and that was the point of the OP.

Like someone else said - despite the popular misconception thet the world in general is delighted by our demise - many fans (macums excluded) are disappointed we went down as Newcastle is such a popular away day.

A few London fans I know said they'll miss the trip to Newcastle and absolutely hate visiting the bumpkins cos the place is so backward.

Do we have to?

I was quite proud the other day (when the away kit came out) when I noticed about a third of the threads on the first page of the SMB were about us and not one on here was about them.

Is this post oxymoronic?

It's already out - bit sad when the timespan of the 4 games is nearly 20 years!!!

"It was fantasy football for sunderland fans as the Black Cats recorded 4 big derby wins"

Wonder if they get a free box of kleenex with every dvd

Sunderland need Newcastle. Do Newcastle need Sunderland?

Slightly more than Newcastle need Middlesbrough - maybe 5% as opposed to zero.

I like how it says this is for the whole North East.

In that case why waste time and money promoting this as one of us is guaranteed to host games by default......kin tossers ;D

Theres something very wrong with them down the road. An official campaign to be one of the host grounds for 2018? They know it will be an us or them situation so they have to resort to this ;D

Pathetic :kinnear:

Unbelievable how they've stolen images from other north east places which have nothing to do with Sunderland cos theres nowt in the hovvel worth showing.

They don't even say where the Millenium Bridge is - maybe they hope people are stupid enough to believe it's over the Weary.

What a bunch of phonies.

;D

The only way they could get it is to make thier stadium bigger than ours.

I doubt they'd even get it with a bigger stadium to be honest, there's other factors such as transport infrastructure, hotel beds other facilities. Would make no sense giving them and have most people stay, travel and socialise in Newcastle when all the facilities required are pretty much around or in the area of SJP

even if the SoL was chosen over SJP (unlikely) the fans would still primarily be based in newcastle staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, going out in newcastle, using our airport and train station and ferry terminal etc. sunderland just doesnt have the facilities or city feel you need. people would take the metro there for matches and come straight back to tyneside.

Some knob posting after the times article on their bid calls it the "North East's International Airport" as its in Ponteland. He then claims it should be them as they have a PremierLeague club at least 9 years before the competition could be played.

"Oh dear, a few responses in and already we have 'our neighbours' up the road attempting to devalue Sunderland's bid. In response to Joker, the north east's international airport is in Ponteland not Newcastle. Additinally, I would imagine FIFA stipulate that a ground is of a club in the top league. "

What next billing the Bridges as the North East's finest shopping experience? Everyone shoul follow the link off the bid page and vote for Newcastle/Gateshead just in case.

Newcastle Airport (IATA: NCL, ICAO: EGNT) is located at Woolsington in the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, England.  :coolsmiley:

He doesn't know they changed the boundaries so the airport in in Newcastle, where as 100m down the road is castle Morpeth or what ever it is called now, also his argument is flawed. German WC Kaiserslautern hosted games, and they got relegated a few years back and are still in league B.

And never mind Leipzig who are in some amateur leage and all the S'affa grounds which are white elephants and destined never to host football.

As i'm not from Newcastle i'm a neutural. It doesn't really make a difference to be what city is picked but why in God's name would some pick Sunderland over Newcastle? All the facilities (not to mention the BIGGER stadium) are in Newcastle. FIFA won't give too shit's what league the team is in, the bigger the stadium the more money they can make.

Saw some makem saying that they'll be a 60,000 seater by then :iamatwat:
