Guest East Stander
Does the Darlington Arena have the drainage to deal with all this f***ing rain? In a word, No!! The pitch is not that good. I'm certainly keeping an eye out for news of a possible postponement. Darlo do need the money from the pre season friendlies from the "NE Big 3" though. Hmm, I don't especially fancy wasting my money on train tickets if the game isn't on. The thought of a football-free and sodden day out in Darlo isn't exactly filling me with glee. QBG
How long with the inemptitude of management of NUFC will it be before we're playing Darlington in the LEAGUE ? 2-3 Years if we don't go up first time of asking.

Skirge
Bass set for Darlo outing, but Oba's still out UNSETTLED Sebastien Bassong is set to make his seasonal bow against Darlington tomorrow. The Newcastle United defender – along with fellow internationals Geremi, Jonas Gutierrez and Xisco – has trained all week after returning from holiday 10 days after the rest of their team-mates. http://www.shieldsgazette.com/nufc/Bass-set-for-Darlo-outing.5470521.jp ======================================== Sebastien Bassong may sit out Darlington game Jul 17 2009 by Lee TOON caretaker boss Chris Hughton may resist the temptation to throw wantaway Sebastien Bassong in the deep end against Darlington tomorrow in their lunchtime friendly with the League Two side. Bassong has made it clear he wants a move away from St James’s Park but has vowed to maintain a level of professionalism while he remains on Tyneside. Hughton now has the French ace available to him again along with Jonas Gutierrez, Geremi and Spanish Under-21 striker Xisco after the quartet were handed an extra fortnight off to recover from international duty for their respective nations. The United stand-in boss may hand the returning Newcastle players cameo roles against Darlo but has hinted it will be business as usual against Lee Clark’s Huddersfield Town on Tuesday evening. Hughton told the Chronicle: “The internationals are back who didn’t join us last week in Dublin. “It is good to see them back. “They came back in good shape and haven’t taken long to get into the swing of things. “In effect they are back into full training. “But we have to be careful and build up their pitch time gradually, therefore tomorrow and Huddersfield gives us the chance to do that.” The Chronicle revealed on Monday how Hughton was ready to recall Geordie ace Andy Carroll for the trip to the Northern Echo Arena after the striker sat out the 3-0 win over Shamrock Rovers, but he is set for his return against Darlo. Hughton will be without Nile Ranger who is on international duty with England Under-19s and Oba Martins is unlikely to be risked against Colin Todd’s men with the game coming too early for the Nigerian ace who has been recovering from a hernia operation. Darlington though will have former United youngster Mark Doninger taking on his old team-mates after joining on trial after a stint at Plymouth Argyle last week. Hughton says: “It will be a stiffer test. “We are looking at the two games, we will be rotating the players in the Huddersfield game. “We will look to give each player over the two games more pitch time.” http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/07/17/sebastien-bassong-may-sit-out-darlington-game-72703-24176980/
