The heart the size of a pea thing. If the keeper was 6'6" but didn't come to take crosses, or he wouldn't drop at attackers feet, then maybe you could say he was a shithouse. Not sure any of that applies to Forster though.

Can't remember if it was during last season or post season, but I read a lot of Celtic boards and posted a cross section of opinion on Foster over here. I believe the general feeling ranged from, possibly worth a punt for a maximum of £1-2m to others who agreed with the lacking bravery angle and were pretty unimpressed. He may have improved since then though, fingers crossed.

Was it Steklenburg or whatevershisname? He's a good keeper, not great maybe but experienced and earned his keep, bad games allowed. This may persuade them to go with Krul whose maybe more of a risk with youth but got oooodles of potential

s*** at pen saves!

He does seem easily fooled mind when it's a short run up. Similar to Anelka in the Carling Cup last season. Think if he'd just picked a side rather than trying to read it, he'd have had a 50% chance of saving that first one.

What can "good" even mean in terms of saving penalties?  One out of every five?  Ten?  They're the closest thing to outright awarding the other team a goal for a reason and "not saving too many penalties" is seriously the pettiest criticism of a keeper ever.

Given was fucking terrible at saving penalties - maybe because he was so short, it was difficult for him to intimidate opponents into taking poor penalties by trying to hard to put into the corner.

Can't remember Harper saving any either

Have a bit more hope for Krul, as he's quite tall and very agile. Just needs to work on his pre-penalty posturing and be decisive/pick a direction to dive.

It wasn't a criticism, just an observation, so keep your hair on.

Harper saved one that won us the (only in history iirc) penalty shootout against Watford in the CC in 2006/2007 under Roeder.

Your post set off a musing, I wasn't arguing with you.

Can't remember it, sadly. Take your word for it though

The only keeper that was actually 'renowned' for his record of penalty saving was Mark Crossley - ex Forest - and even then not sure why, or what his record was!  Probably because he actually saved a Matt Le Tissier one once.

To be honest the problem is we've given too many away already this season - not that Krul is not good at saving them! No keeper is particularly great at saving penalties, there's not that much of a science to it!

Steve Harper also got two penalties scored past him yesterday!
