Zavon Hines looks firmly part of the England U-21 set up now.

He was on the bench for a Jamaica game not long ago, bet they wish they'd capped him at the time because he burst onto the scene for West Ham against Liverpool straight afterwards and now they've lost him.

So is there a specific reason why the game is in Doha?

Where?

Doha. The capital of Qatar, an oil and more specifically gas rich country of around 1.5 million people, most of whom are foreign workers, that is a thumb shaped peninsular sticking up in to the Gulf.

Oh, right. Why there?

Money. But England wont see much of it. The FA are set to receive around a £400,000 appearance fee while Brazil will end up with 10 times that amount.

Why the difference?

England were effectively tied in to this game through payback for having Brazil as their first opponents at the new Wembley. Kentaro – the company that was responsible to broadcasting England’s match with Ukraine on the internet recently – have been organising a ‘Brazil World Tour’ that has taken the national team round the world like the Harlem Globetrotters. They go where the money is the best and so England were left with no choice but to accept the invitation under the terms of the original deal.

So, a useful run-out against one of the two best teams in the world, a bit of warm weather. Is that it?

Not at all. There is plenty for the sporting politicians to busy themselves with. Especially Englands World Cup bidding team. Mohammed bin Hammam, a Qatari and head of the Asian Football Confederation, is one of the 24 Fifa executive committee members who will vote on which country hosts the 2018 edition.

However, the rubbing of shoulders will be a two-way affair Qatar themselves are bidding for the 2022 World Cup and will use the event to showcase their country.

The Newcastle Falcons players were weaker & not as fit as other clubs in rugby during the the last couple of season Black was there. Rather we got Paul Winsper back. The fitness department is a bit of joke since Mark Hulse (now at Liverpool) & Robbie Elliott (Nike & USA U20 team) left in the summer. Robbie is helping the club out on a as & when basis.
