Sima
I don't understand it, he absolutely stole a living for 4 years with us (some of which was spent in chokey) and was only good for six months 'One Joey Barton'. Aye, thank fuck for that.

NEEJ
I don't hate him, he's mildly amusing at times and it's always good to watch him unravel after he's been preaching to the world about how to live life. Definitely still an unhinged individual.
Ronaldo
I'll never get why anyone would love him. s*** off the pitch and on it. He wasn't so bad when he was here! His days are numbered now though. He was here 4 years and at most had 5 good months as a RM - with Andy Carroll to aim for.
Kaizero
I like him because he's a fucking mental nutcase. I like observing mental nutcases from a distance. Also the fact he seemingly absolutely detests Mike Ashley is an endearing factor. However I'm glad he's not at NUFC anymore. Or well, not really. If he was still here there's a chance we'd be entertained by fights on the pitch, which would be more interesting than the shit existence of nothingness we suffer today. Tooj
He's lauded as some sort of cult hero by some of our lot, bizarre. Aye it's ridiculous. The reception he got at Steve Harper's testimonial was an embarrassment.

Some people on here and large portions of our match going fan base need their checked when it comes to Joey Barton's time here.

Disco
He's only well liked here because of the way he carried on about Ashley, which was reasonably commendable, for the most part on the pitch he was a waste of time and largely a hinderance. I think it would be quite churlish to think otherwise - don't think many, if any, rated him as a player other than he 'cared' when in truth he probably didn't, he just got stuck in now and then. Ronaldo
That's the thing, him getting 'stuck in' with the daft tackles was a product of the fact he was otherwise unable to assert himself on games. He'd frequently get physically dominated to the point of embarrassment in CM.

He, like Nolan, was physically unable to play in centre midfield however Nolan was unrivaled at making up for it with goals. Barton though...
Ste
Barton sort of piggy backed on the group of players who sorted us out after Orient didn't he?
Guest
Pretty sure he had a falling out with Hughton just before the Championship kicked-off. Seem to remember him being benched for the WBA game. I keep harping on about it as well but he made it hard to like from the very start when he wouldn't waive his £300k 'loyalty' fee at Man City and daft t*** Shepherd ended up paying £5.8m rather than £5.5m for him. Wish to hell he didn't bother.
Ronaldo
It was a bust-up with another player wasn't it? Coloccini perhaps?
Guest
Yep. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/8191579.stm Hughton refused to directly deny an incident had occurred when questioned. But he said: "We are getting used to rumours at Newcastle United. It is something that we have to work around." Reports in the north-east claimed Barton was involved in a dispute with Jonas Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini and then fell out with Hughton, suggestions the 26-year-old has denied. "There was no disagreement between Joey Barton and any other player prior to the West Brom game," said Barton's personal spokesman Paul Tyrrell. "He totally accepted Chris Hughton's decision to put him on the bench for tactical reasons yesterday and gave a typically committed performance when he came on as a substitute. Away Toon
Barton might not be the greatest player in the world but he's better than any of our centre midfielders. Maybe Abeid might turn into a decent player if we ever pick him to start.

And I think Barton, Anita, Colback, Tiote are all around the same level
Interpolic
Can't remember him having one good game for us in central midfield other than a few games under Keegan as part of a midfield 3, when he wasn't that central.

Mr. Snrub
Barton was key to us getting back up and he had a good season when we got promoted. He's the pricks prick, yes, but he still says nothing wrong about NUFC except about the cunts that run our club and takes pleasure in winding up the mackems. He's the perfect heel. Plus he's a lot more eloquent and interesting than most footballers. He also gave a shit on the pitch and told it how it was. Anything he's said about our club since he's left has been 100% true. I'd have him in our midfield anyday and if anyone would prefer Anita/Gouffran/Sammy then you're fucking deluded.
ponsaelius
He certainly wasn't key in getting us promoted. Only played 8 games plus a handful of sub appearances.
Ronaldo
Aye, what a load of revisionist crap. Barton might not be the greatest player in the world but he's better than any of our centre midfielders. Based on what? Colback's pretty average but Barton does nothing better than him. Sissoko pisses all over him even on a bad day.
Guest
Gives so much of a shit on the pitch that when things get tough, he loses it and gets sent off and puts his team in the shit. (See Liverpool away for us, Man City & Hull City for QPR).

Kanj
I'm happy to watch him and his antics with the benefit that he's someone else's problem. Hates Ashley like I do, so I'll always have that respect for him.
