bodson
Hughton in for him http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/197362/Chris-Hughton-wants-Danny-Guthrie/ Can understand that, he was great in the championship. I'd like to keep him though, he's a useful squad player.
toontownman
Always liked him. Decent squad player. He's quietly impressed in his last couple of appearances. Was great against Man U. This. Would take a straight swap for Roger Johnson though! Wouldn't even mind if we gave them a million or so on top, granted they would.
Begbie
I think we need to keep Guthrie because our squad is still to thin.
Lush Vlad
Always liked him. Decent squad player. He's quietly impressed in his last couple of appearances. Was great against Man U. My thoughts on him really and when you look at other back up options to Tiote and Cabaye, it doesn't look great IMO. We've got Smith who's a liability and by all accounts is on about 8 times more than him. Gosling who I've never seen play centre mid, who's coming back from a terrible injury. Barton, who will probably leave and apparently can't play centre mid according to most on here. Then what, play Raylor or Perch in there Tiote will no doubt pick up a few suspensions and is away for the ACN at the end of Jan, Cabaye might not hit the gorund running either. I'd get rid of Smith and keep the rest TBH. If we signed this Matuidi, then maybe I could see Guthrie leaving, seems a bit expensive though for a player who wouldn't necessarily be first choice. Would rather we spent money in other areas first.
David28
He'd do well for Hughton tbh. Allthough, I wonder if Hughton is really that much interested in him considering that that mistake of Guthrie led to the 3-0 to WBA.
Si
Need to be adding to the squad not one in one out, seems daft to sell when we know he can do a job for us in a pinch and he'll be on a low wage anyway.
Matt
I cannot see the club turning down £1m for a player who isn't starting and who has less than a year on his contract.
Cronky
He's quite skilful as people say, and there's nothing wrong with his attitude and determination. On the other hand, he just doesn't look strong enough or athletic enough for the very top division. He's easily muscled off the ball and has difficulty imposing himself. He'll have a good, long career in the game, but he won't hit the heights IMO.
womblemaster
load him to birmingham for a fee 500k? Can be recalled if injuries.

BrettNUFC
If someone offered 1 million i'd snap their hands off! The lad is dog turd!
buzza
I think 2M-3m as he is English, plays for (ahem!) a Prem side and he is as good as quite a few average midfielders about.... The fact that he is on his last year of contract makes me think that he is very susceptible to be transferred by the fat guffa!
JH
load him to birmingham for a fee 500k? Can be recalled if injuries. Don't think you can recall if they pay a loan fee anyway.
Guest
He's 4th choice here as it stands behind Tiote, Cabaye & Gosling, there'll no doubt be one more added to that, if Birmingham offer £1m I'd just take it. Doesn't seem much but that plus the wages would pretty much pay the academy lads' wages for a season. He'd play maybe 5-6 games, really not worth keeping. Dave
On what basis is he behind Gosling?
Guest
On Gosling being a better footballer than him. Gosling for Everton 2009-10 was better than Guthrie for us in the Premier League.
Dave
I wouldn't be comfortable rating him on 9 Premier League starts.
Guest
You could say that about anyone then. If we'd signed Chris Smalling last summer would he still be behind Taylor & Williamson in the pecking order on the basis he hardly started in the Premier League for Fulham? Steggy
On Gosling being a better footballer than him. Gosling for Everton 2009-10 was better than Guthrie for us in the Premier League. Gosling has been out for a year with a cruciate ligament injury, there is absolutely no way you can just assume he will come back the exact same footballer he was in 2009-10. I'm not saying he will or won't, but snapping your ACL is a bitch of an injury and its not so simple to recover from.

Smalling clearly has/had obvious talent. I'm not saying Gosling is rubbish, I just don't think it's fair to just assume he's any better than Guthrie. We got him because he was free, not because we needed him.
Guest
Fair enough but I bet if Pardew has a pecking order in that area at the moment it'd look Tiote Cabaye Gosling Guthrie Actually as it stands he'd probably have Barton as number 3 there.

I have to agree, although we don't know how Gosling will return, i'd take his glimpses of quality and potential at Everton over Danny Guthrie's whole career at the toon in the Premiership! Guest firetotheworks
He was one of the main reasons why the CCC season was so easy towards the end, but then so was Routledge and he's not good enough anymore, either. I think that's both of their levels.

No world beater, but solid squad material imo.
