Jermaine Jenas is looking to create an electrical storm in the Villa midfield - and strike fear into the hearts of opposition defenders.

Jenas admitted his delight at joining Villa on transfer deadline day and plans on bringing his drive and dynamism to the central ground.

The high-energy ace has called his transfer to B6 the "biggest of his career" and hopes to thrive in claret and blue.

He believes he brings something new to the middle of the park - a willingness to get forward, link with the attack and score goals and he plans on showcasing that as and when he gets into the team.

He said: "First and foremost I've got to get in this team who have been doing really well - and bring something new they haven't got and hopefully hold down a spot.

"I can bring my drive, I can get behind centre-halves, get on the other side of midfield players and score goals.

"That's what I can definitely bring to a team when I am at my best.

"This I potentially the biggest move of my career to reignite what I know is already within me as a player.

"This is a fantastic place to come and play football and almost showcase it. If I can get that confidence behind me, put some top performances for Villa, I can help them achieve what they want to.

"I think it was only a year or two ago that Villa were competing for fourth place and up there.

"Okay, they had a bit of a tough season last year but I've looked at the players they've already got here, the likes of Darren, Gabby and Charles as well. It is an attacking team and I'm very confident we can do good things this year.

"It's important we push on into that top seven or eight and try and maintain some form, be tough to beat, and maybe push on in a few cup competitions as well and go on a good run."

Jenas admitted it was an instant decision when he heard of Villa's interest in him - although the positivity he heard about the club from record-signing Darren Bent reassured him it was a great career move.

He added: "I spoke to Benty straight away and he told me how good the club is run and the lads were great.

"I looked at it myself in terms of what they had here. They've got a fantastic bunch of players here and a good squad that can compete. Straight away, I was very interested."
