Liam Liam Liam O
Captain Darlington skipper Steve Foster in contract row Darlington skipper Steve Foster will not play again for the club until a clause in his contract is removed, boss Steve Staunton has confirmed. The Quakers manager told BBC Tees that, if Foster plays two more games, he will automatically be offered a new deal. "We can't afford to be handing out that sort of deal not knowing what division we're going to be in," said Staunton. "I asked him to take the clause out of his contract so he could be available for selection, but he decided not to." Foster, 34, chose to stay with Darlington in the summer after they came out of administration, and is a popular figure at the club. "It's his decision," added Staunton. "My hands are tied, and unfortunately he won't be available for selection until that clause comes out." Tuesday night's 4-0 defeat at Notts County was the Quakers' ninth away league defeat of the season, leaving them 10 points from safety. Darlo have now picked up just one point out of a possible 30 - the joint worst record in the league. And Staunton admits that his side's poor form on the road means that games at The Arena now take on added importance. "We going to have to make sure we win our home games now," he said. "We're putting more pressure on ourselves and we'll just have to deal with it." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/darlington/8391283.stm Pretty disgusting behaviour by Darlington IMO. Ketsbaia
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/2765649/Footy-ace-signs-up-to-pen-kids-books.html#ixzz0ZIBj85F4 SOCCER wonderkid THEO WALCOTT has signed a lucrative new deal - as a children's author. The Arsenal and England winger, 20, has been snapped up by a top book publisher after he penned two stories for fun about a hero schoolboy... who happens to be a soccer wonderkid. His inspirational tales - poised to hit shelves next April - were last night hailed as "full of action and passion". Theo, who is working on turning the books into a series, confessed last night that the adventures of school new boy TJ mirror his OWN life. He grinned: "Many of my experiences as a young footballer will be relived by TJ in the stories. "I'm really excited to be working on this series." The winger - whose school nickname WAS TJ and who scored more than 100 goals in his one amateur season for AFC Newbury - is hoping his books will prove to be rip-roaring yarns that also appeal to girls. His passion is to get kids reading. Theo explained: "Books played an important part in our family life as I was growing up." The stories, which follow TJ as he arrives at Parkview School and falls in love with footie, were pitched to a literary agent by Walcott's management. An undisclosed deal was then swiftly struck with publishing giant Random House. Its roster includes DAN BROWN, JOHN GRISHAM, DELIA SMITH... and JORDAN. Gunners starlet Theo - who was just 17 when he got his England call-up - will see his books printed under the Corgi label. His already proud mum Lynn is overjoyed. Philippa Dickinson, boss of Random House Children's Books, said: "Theo is incredibly talented. We are thrilled." A source said: "It's every kid's dream to be selected to play for their country. Because Theo managed it so young he is a huge inspiration to kids everywhere."
