James Beattie considers Stoke future over Pulis bust-up

Stoke striker James Beattie is considering a move away from the club following a bust-up with manager Tony Pulis, BBC Sport understands.

It was alleged Pulis and Beattie had to be separated in the dressing room after Saturday's defeat by Arsenal.

On Monday Stoke said they would hold an investigation and contrary to reports, Beattie has not apologised to Pulis.

The 31-year-old has 18 months left on his current contract, having arrived at the Britannia Stadium in January, 2009.

He became a big favourite at the club when his seven goals during last season's run-in played a significant part in keeping the club in the Premier League.

And while he has only scored twice this season, in October's 2-1 win over West Ham, Beattie has again been a key member of a squad that currently sits in 11th, seven points off the relegation zone.

Beattie did not train with the rest of the Stoke squad on Monday, though he did spend around 30 minutes at the club's training ground before departing.

Fuck off Marlon :morph:

Not someone who would be worth it in the Premier League. 31 years old, he's getting on a bit. Not really a natural goalscorer either.

I wouldn't mind if it was a loan till the end of the season fwiw. (unlikely to happen ofc)

At one point I thought he would be the next Alan Shearer. But nope. He would do us ok in the championship but I think he will end up at Bolton or Burnley or somewhere like that.

The Mail reckons Pulis was naked during the confrontation.

Tony Pulis apologised to his players on Monday for the violent outburst that has pushed James Beattie towards the exit door at Stoke City.

The club have launched an internal investigation after Sportsmail’s revelations that Pulis and Beattie came to blows in the wake of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Arsenal because of a row about the players' Christmas party.

But Pulis, who, it is understood, was naked when he attempted to butt the 31-year-old former England striker, called his players together before training yesterday and said sorry for his conduct.

Beattie always seems a bit of tit. Not sure he is what we would want up front either.

Aye, your right, why do we need a striker that can score goals?

But can he throw glasses?

He will have on the job training from big AC and Barton to get him upto standard.

That's the deal I was meaning, to replace Harewood.

If it had happened in about 7 weeks time (ie near the end of the transfer window) rather than now we might have had a chance of a loan til the summer.
