Ishmael
Didn't we offer Nolan a long(ish) contract, but made it clear that he would be taking a lesser role in the first team over the course of it? Therefore he went to West Ham.
AyeDubbleYoo
You all know he isn't going to be used as back up if he signs this deal. Do we? Why?
Guest Roger Kint
You all know he isn't going to be used as back up if he signs this deal. Do we? Why? Imo he wont sign to be a backup but at the same time i dont think he will be first choice if Pardew gets his way. I honestly think we will buy a FB this summer and i cant see us leaving Santon on the bench for Simpson when we do(or the new FB on the bench if he is right sided)
Jagten
Nothing new, hardly an exclusive. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2132845/Newcastle-lose-Danny-Simpson-contract-spat-EXCLUSIVE.html

ponsaelius
Would rather take whatever money Villa would give us and sign somebody else. Could get Clyne on probably less wages.

Clyne and Tavernier battling it out for the RB slot sounds spot on to me.
Sifu
I would prefer him to stay as backup but if he goes, he goes.
Hanshithispantz
Or Santon RB & Tav the Impaler back-up if we decide to bring in a LB instead, either way Simpson would be an idiot if he turns down a £25k contract here.

TaylorJ_01
So an 150% pay increase, probable European football and brilliant fanbase/stadium/city for a distinctly average football and there's a spat?? If true, he can fuck off
ponsaelius
I can see why he's turning it down if some mugs are offering him 35/40k. From a footballing POV he's only going to get a step down though.
Dave
Cost £750k, on £10k per week and has played every game for a club joint fourth in the Premier League with five games to go. What terrible value for money. Hope he dies etc.
ponsaelius
He's generally been a value for money signing, no doubt about that.
Fenham Mag
Yeh , don't think anyone is arguing that Dave, apart from that numpty Gasucasos or whatever.
Dokko
He's an absolute loon to turn down £25kpw Can't see anyone paying him more than that if we try to sell him at the end of the season either, so he's waiting for his contract to expire in hope of the big sign on fee and bumper deal, even then is anyone going to pay him £35kpw? That's the figure he must think he's worth playing the club like this, a club with a reputation and form of telling contract whingers to go fuk themselves. Daft lad, he'll not get a 1st team spot in a bigger club than this.

That's usually how these things work, even if it's not supposed to be the case. Mental like, but could you really put it past the likes of West Ham and QPR? Segun Oluwaniyi
£25,000 a week Please don't sign it . A quick search finds a Daily mail article that states the average Premiership wage as £22,353 a week. Danny is a player who played in every single match for a team that will compete in Europe next season. Hardly average. You can understand why he believes he is worth more. If the parties representing the club and those representing the player have a fundamental disagreement regarding his value, then let him leave for the good of both. It'll be West Ham if they come up i'd imagine, QPR are probably a tad more ambitious (unless they've bought into this Best RB in the league shite) and they have Young for the time being anyway. Think that average figure may be a bit inflated by clubs like Chelsea and Man City paying massive wages.
