Incognito
The perfect style of football for England to play is Man united's fast paced , counter attacking 4-3-3 style tbh. ------------------------------James----------------------------- Johnson---------Terry------------------Ferdinand-------Cole -----------------------------Carrick--------------------------- --------------------Gerrard---------Lampard------------------ ---Lennon-----------------------------------------------J.cole-- -------------------------------Rooney----------------------------- To play this formation effectively you need two attacking full backs (check), a ball playing cb that is able to play long diagonal balls to the wingers (check...ferdinand btw), 3 cm's that are tactically aware and have good positional sense (check). This formation also makes us less reliant on Gerrard as Barry can easily slot in, but it would make us even more reliant on Rooney. Fact is, other then Rooney we have no other strikers that are even close to being World class. I'm sure Capello has the experience to make this formation work. Rooney plays too deep to be a sole striker,in an England shirt anyway, and if Carlton Cole is fit,he'll definitely go as Fab Cap loves him.
Mr. Snrub
Defoe just scored the same amount of goals in 90 minutes than Heskey has managed all season.

That formation works perfectly with a deep lying striker. It's basically a counter attacking 4-3-3 variation which allows Rooney to roam from his position(basically Man united's style of play). In fact it's ideal if he does so. Chelsea play 4-3-3 but they play it with a target man (hence they rarely counter attack). Soak up pressure...Attack. Soak up pressure....Attack. We'd own playing that.
ElDiablo
Rooney's played up top on his own against Arsenal didn't he? He was fantastic in that game.

Ronaldo
Rooney Defoe Heskey Crouch all have to go, no question. I'd take a 5th striker in either Agbonlahor or Bent.
cubaricho
Will be a 4-4-2 I can almost guarantee it.
Ishmael
As this is a democratic vote, I shall conduct a poll as to whether we opt to take a fifth striker at the expense of another position. CBA to do anything about Carlton Cole though. Just assume that he'll be injured please.
Stifler
I voted Rooney, Crouch, Defoe, and Bent. I wouldn't mind swapping Crouch or Agbonlahor though.

Ronaldo
Heskey has to go on account of his proven partnership with Rooney. In the group stage especially, we KNOW they'll perform.
AliGupter
Rooney, Defoe, Crouch and Heskey, I think that's pretty much guaranteed. I'd like to take Agbonlahor as well though.

Ishmael
Rooney - 87 (25%) Defoe - 78 (22.4%) Crouch - 66 (19%) Bent - 41 (11.8%) Heskey - 44 (12.6%) Agbonlahor - 32 (9.2%) Voting closed m'kay. Have set a closing time on the defenders one (all will do for all future editions). Rooney, Defoe, Crouch and Heskey made it. Obviously we will vote on taking a 5th striker at a later point. geordieglory
Rooney's proved this season he doesn't need to play alongside a clogger up front to shine. Should be Heskey well and truly out the picture. He's f***ing s****.
Guest firetotheworks
Heskey is pivotal in the system that we play though. A system that has worked every time it's been used.
The Prophet
Rooney - By the far our best and most in form striker. Heskey - Not his greatest fan but seems to work very well in the system we're playing. Defoe and Bent - Can't really say no with the form they've both been in, providing they maintain it like. gray
Darren Bent has looked totally shit every time he's played for England. This. Got to take Abongalong for his pace, would be amazing to bring on at 60+ minutes

Ronaldo
Agbon has to go, but Defoe imo probably has to start. I thought it was pretty cut and dry that Heskey and Rooney would be our best bet but in all honestly it's becoming clear that Defore has the best movement of all of our strikers and is the most natural goalscorer.
