Colos Curls
What's the bet all those on RTG currently saying "I couldn't care a less about finishing above the unwashed" are celebrating if they do. Pointless anyone denying that it won't feel like some kind of victory especially considering we are rival clubs/cities. Its good to have the competition and something to aim for as it keeps the players motivated you've just got to be careful that its not all your aiming for, thats wrong fo sho
AyeDubbleYoo
I just want to finish as high up the league as possible really. If that means we finish above the mackems, I'd not complain. Yep, it's simple now anyway, just beat West Brom.
Chicken Dancer
Can anyone access the league table at several points over the season? Would be interesting to see what the points difference was at it's largest.

Plenty people on here are saying "they are not bothered" but I can only presume the people saying this don't live/work/socialise in the North East,it matters to both sets of fans and no idea why some people find the need to deny this.Whoever finishes higher the other team won't hear the last of it all summer long and that's the way it should be,it's local rivalry, banter, bragging rights all summer. So if Sunderland squeeze ahead of us on the last day, it can be seen as an achievement for you lot? Despite us pissing all over you which culminated in a 5-1 win, as well as you spending fortunes, claiming to be destined for Europe whereas we have competed with a team deemed not good enough, the team that won the Championship + Tiote? I think not. Its fair to say the bragging rights will remain on Tyneside, whatever happens Sunday.

I haven't heard many of our lot say they aren't bothered, more that it's not the end of the world as we've far exceeded our expectations this season. I'd love it if we finished ahead of you lot first and foremost because I want us to finish as high as possible but a close second is bragging rights. Guest Wearside
Chicken Dancer You can go on about the 5-1 all you like but the facts remain that was a one-off game,we beat Chelsea it doesn't make us better than them. This decides who has been the best team over the entire season and the old phrase "the league table doesn't lie" is what matters.
Anderson
I think 'not bothered' isn't the right way to sum up most our feelings. We won't have a great sense of achievement like I expect most mackems would. We will however find is very funny considering the way the past couple seasons have gone and your craic since you beat us and the fact most mackem's patter this season has been it's the league table that counts as they try to clutch at straws after Halloween. It's just one massive piss taking opportunity for us. So yes, I would like to finish above you, but I'm not going to be too arsed if we don't. The average poster on RTG however seems to consider finishing above us the be all and end all.

I that's probably about right, although the average poster on RTG probably has the mental age of 2 so it's unfair to use them as a comparison

So finishing above a promoted team to prove 'youre better than them' despite hearing all season you were going to yewrup constitutes progress? RTG isn't real life mate, don't take everything you read on there as gospel, and I work with Newcastle fans who are totally desperate to finish above us and they claim it's a small payback for all the taunting we gave you when you were relegated, like I say it's all the summers banter and bragging rights. I find it funny though how every Newcastle fan says that we have spent big money and Newcastle nothing, you'd think you are playing with a squad full of free transfers the way some of you go on. It's impossible to argue about the league table after 38 games, the best team wins it every year and the 3 worst get relegated, you cannot argue with it so yes if you do finish higher I will be on saying well done. Add to that we don't know what exactly we gave Den Haag for Krul, probably not much, then thats half the team for next to nowt.

For your lot Sunday is all about straw clutching and trying to save yourselves from total humiliation, while it's nothing more than a potential extra laugh for us.
