AyeDubbleYoo
Sounds like it's going to be Hughes. Hard to gauge what type of appointment that is considering he overperformed at Blackburn, underperformed at Man City and was about average at Fulham. He has went a bit mad in the media recently mind. Don't rate Mark Hughes, or like him really, but it will be interesting to see how he does if appointed.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Really thought Hughes would have managed Wales. Hughes would probably do some damage control with Sunderland, sadly.

Think hell do well, for a time being, not real the kind of manager you see in any job long term. Think the Wales job is his, but the timing is too soon and Sunderland could nip in and get offers on the table. I think short has his man in his sights already, and is probably discussing terms/ meeting up already if not tomorrow.

Guest Howaythetoon
A sad day this. Their next appointment will be their most important yet. Get this wrong and they could be in real trouble for a long long time. Pardew shows that it's a real lottery changing manager for me. We all thought he'd be s****, turns out one of our best for a long time. It's all about getting the right man for the club at the right time, Hughes would be my biggest worry, think it would fit them very well indeed. I wouldn't go that far like. He's doing well but it can all go wrong just as it did for Roeder despite a good start and even Big Sam. Even Souness has a run of 8 successive wins or something. Pardew does seem to have a little bit more about him tactically mind. Its his subs and keeping faith in the likes of Lovenkrands and Perch that scare the fuck out of me. Anyone with eyes can tell you they are not Premier League players yet he will bring them on. Scary.

Biggest mistake Hughes will make is sticking by Cattermole, really is his type of player. Probably aye..... Hughes will play a more organised version of the football they've seen under bruce, it's not pretty, but will get you points. Mon would need fast players everywhere so he can counter attack, meaning a full rebuild of the attacking unit, Curbs would repeat the mid season slump that haunts Bruces career and mcClaren is a joke manager, who'll have the fans on his back from the off. Clark a Geordie - who unfortunately for them is their best appointment but won't happen, dave jones would save the season but wouldn't progress them while Ancelotti, Rafa and the likes are basically fantasy stuff, but may have had a chance this time last year with Gyan and bent and the team looking forward, but not now. Slim pickings.
afar
Bad news, put a dampner on my day this. he really messed up by losing too much, one fewer loss and he could have gotten past christmas and by then any change in management is going to be tough. Hughes would be an excellent appointment, the only black mark on Hughes's record is Man Shitty, it was clear there that he couldn't manage players on that ability on those types of wages. Sunderland is nowhere near that level. He did an excellent job at Blackburn, remember he picked up the mess that Souness had left and at Fulham he did an excellent job too, it was not easy to follow hodgson and the struggles a highly rated manager like Jol has had with Fulham this year show you that there wasn't a lot of talent there. Hope they go in another direction, Hughes or O'neill out of the unemployed managers would be great appointments, hopefully they go down the Mclaren, Souness, what the hell give Terry Butcher another shot at it route

Ketsbaia
This is awful news Awww man, things were going so well. Although seriously, a lot of money needs to be spent to sort that mess out. Theres plenty of managers available right now; Ancelotti, Hiddink, Benitez, Sven, McClaren and O'Neill. Or they could plump for one of the up-and-comers like Poyet, Solskjaer, Martinez or Lambert. Ultimately though, I reckon Mark Hughes is a perfect fit for them. They can't do any better, he's available and he's a bastard. Good manager too But Steve, honestly, thank you for everything
afar
Hopefully they can poach that bright young prospect Steve Kean Funny thing is we did just that kind of thing when we sack Sir Bobby, going for a Struggling Scottish manager of Blackburn Rovers. Guest fraser
It doesn't really matter. Thanks to Bruce they are two years behind us in terms of development and whatever advantage they might have had in terms of players and revenues thanks to our relegation has disappeared. Second best for years and years to come.

Good manager too But Steve, honestly, thank you for everything Yeah I think that's something we lose sight of in all this, what a fantastic effort from Bruce, we couldn't have asked for anything more (except maybe signing another washedout Manure hasbeen instead of a young lad with a lot of potential from Ipswich). Thanks for the memories big man, the 5-1 will live long in our hearts.
cfcmagpies
I think it's time to bring Agent Bruce in from the cold. Would be nice to see the club employ him in some well-payed position where he has no decision making powers. Just for a bit of a laugh.
afar
What is it with them and the term Geordie, they seem angry that the term is refered to our supporters and that they are all called mackems despite a lot of them being born in the Newcastle area. FFS they are obessed with it. We've got a ton of fans from the wear area, including Durham, it doesn't fucking matter, get over it
