Rennes player Sylvain Marveaux has been identified by Newcastle’s chief scout Graham Carr as the man to replace winger Wayne Routledge, who joined Queen’s Park Rangers on loan in the January transfer window. Marveaux, 24, will be out of contract this summer and is close to signing a pre-contract agreement ahead of a move to St James’ Park. Meanwhile, Shola Ameobi could be out for up to two months after fracturing his cheekbone against Fulham. Pardew is considering a possible deal for free agent Jeremie Aliadiere, the former Arsenal and Middlesbrough striker, as he looks to fill the gap

Disco
promising if true that we're actually planning ahead even if it is free transfers. Should've been doing this for the previous window.
BONTEMPI
Sure he is a leftie. Seems to favour it for shooting, but seems two footed, so could play either wing. These are the sort of players I like to see coming this way.

madras
Maybe we plan to play Barfa on the right? why ? he attacks players, can go either side, likes to drift and drop....seems like the nearest thing to beardsley in many a year.

80
what did the guv say ? That his friend who works at the club told him we've agreed a deal with a Rennes winger or somesuch, who people quickly deduced was this guy. More excellent journalism beneath, this time from the Daily Star: Fabregas was correct when he said Mason has not reported him, but Everton playmaker Mikel Arteta accused his fellow Spaniard of a “bad” tackle after leaving London with an ice-pack strapped to his knee. He said: “It was a bad tackle. But that happens on the pitch. People tackle.” Scathing stuff.
