Was probably written before that came out.

Most of the stuff in the weekend papers is written on Friday, at least the main articles. Not sure about the Sports stuff.

NEWCASTLE United are closing in on a loan deal for Marseille schemer Hatem Ben Arfa – but must double their offer to 800,000 Euros to take him in time for the big Premier League kick-off

How can he write that when the President of Marseille confirmed yesterday that a loan fee of €800,000 was accepted?

Back up home for the weekend and reading this. Forgot how much of a pile of shite it is. Front page story hilarious!

Seems like Liverpool are being linked with just about everyone atm. Crouch on the Beeb at the moment is also headed their way.

If we pull this deal off then where will the lad play ? Surely we are looking to bring him in to start, does that mean he's taking Jonas's spot on the left ? Highly unlikely that we would want to drop one of our better players from last year. So is it must surely be through the middle just off Carroll, if so where does that leave Nolan ?

With the lad's reputation for trouble making, this deal has some bad signs for team harmony, one of 2 very powerful individuals in that dressing room is going to lose their place in the team and I doubt either of them would be very happy about that.

He'll take Nolan's place behind Carroll, and Nolan will take Guthrie's place in midfield. Probably.

Fail to see how this would be anything other than a win win transfer for us, bit like the Gosling and Campbell deals. Feck all cash and even of he turns out to be a shitbag then we don't have to keep him. Hughton is doing a great job in this transfer window and is far exceeding my expectations.

Think we can afford to have one talented bit-of-a-dick, we used to have a teamful, but now we're pretty full of good lads who put the shift in but aren't really the best in the world, bless 'em. Even if he's a bit sulky or whatever, I'd like to think we'd give those kind of players arfa chance before deciding we hatem.

Just hope if we do get him on loan and he is a good player. That he will become addicted to the club like Ginola and Robert. You'd think if he is a good player the others in the dressing room will keep knocking on about the fans et all.

Just on the wages:

http://actu.football.fr/post/2010/08/08/OM-:-Le-cas-Hatem-Ben-Arfa-r%C3%A9gl%C3%A9-sous-48-heures-!

But the appearance yesterday of the former on the lawn outside Lyonnais Velodrome does not question his departure. Jean Claude Dassier has indeed revealed just before the meeting qu'Hatem Ben Arfa would join Newcastle in 48 hours. It would seem a loan fee of € 800,000 with an option to purchase. The English club should also pay the full salary of the imposing player, Marseille condition for accepting the loan.

EDIT: Ah, he was a witness in that Ribenaberry sex scandal thing.

Witness in the same way Martin Woods was a witness to Ben Alnwick scandal?
