The player gives preference to a departure to Newcastle. So far, the English club has made a loan offer with a purchase option considered "ridiculous" internally. The content of the proposal is currently blocking this destination in the eyes of the Olympian Club. The only club that has made an offer to date is Hoffenheim. It is suitable for leaders Marseille, around 8 million euros, but the German club has yet to reach agreement with Ben Arfa on its particular circumstances. He must convince the young prodigy especially as the destination will suit him. "We absolutely want," said recently the assistant coach Peter Zeidler. merlin
Judging by some of the comments from those who have seen this player regularly, a Loan deal is probably the best thing for the club. We do not want, or need, any more erratic players who are brilliant one minute and then anonymous for the next 45. It will be tough enough to stay in the PL and to create a good team spirit when results are going badly without having players who are either prima donnas or very inconsistent. I remember 'Jinky' Jimmy Smith, who Joe Harvey paid a club record fee of 100,000 GBP to Aberdeen after we won the Fairs Cup ; Smith was supposed to be the final piece in the jig-saw that was going to transform us into genuine domestic honours challengers after our Euro success and Smith did indeed possess brilliant skills. I once saw him destroy Mike Bailey and Wolves on his own - nutmegs a plenty on Bailey etc., but these events were few and far between. Joe Harvey said that when he congratulated Smith on his performance, there was nothing there ; no exultation, pleasure at a job well done, just nothing...and Joe said he knew then that Smith was never going to reach his potential. If HBA joins on loan, he has to do the business - as others have said, our history with French players is hardly star-studded ; only Ginola and Robert have really done the business and not for too long either. We can then see whether he is worth the money and also if he is going to be a good member of the squad or not. If the club is to survive and prosper this season, we need ALL hands at the pumps - no passengers pls.
David28
Think to sign him on loan would be a good thing. No risk. If he does well we have a chance to get him after the season, if he's shit, he'll be back in France that time next year.

Guest Roger Kint
We are going to need to buy a much better DM if we are going to be using 2 wingers, neither will offer the necessary cover defensively to help the likes of Smith at this level. Shame the Arevalo deal isnt real.
MidfieldGeneral
My only concern with a loan is that he does well and ends up going somewhere else. He's still young so surely if we could get him for a decent price we'd still recoup the majority of our money if we were to sell him.

Guest antz1uk
if we sign this player on loan after another club has reportedly offered 8m euros that says massive amount of either tremendous negotiating skills or huge balls by whoever our representatives are, it also gives a good indicatio the player is not just aftr money but wants to further his career in the right manner

Shame the Arevalo deal isnt real. Barton will do as DM. Barton is a box to box midfielder, as is Guthrie as is Gosling. We need someone to just sit in front of the back 4 and break attacks up. The only person who barely resembles that is Smith, and he's not exactly an expert at it.

steve_69
He's french which means he'll be moaning and trying to engineer a move to Arsenal after a year anyway. If we sign him and he helps us stay up before the innevitable happens then that'll do for me.

Barton maybe was a box-to-box midfielder who drove on the game of his team (at Man City, under KK here maybe as well). His apparances last season and in pre-season (against depor) suggest he's more like a DM now sitting deep and trying to get some good balls through the defence into the run of our strikers.
