Vuckic and Ranger left at home to play Luton tomorrow according to .com

:(

good. we need our first team playing, not playing fringe players when we should be getting our best players match fit.

i want to see us playing barton / guthrie in the middle, nolan behind carroll, routledge and jonas on the wings, and a half decent defence.

It'll be Smith and Nolan in the middle with Guthrie playing LW or some shit.

The Teresa Herrera changes from year to year. Sometimes (mostly in the last 3 decades) it is a 4 team tournament, other times a three team tournament and ocassionally like tonight, it's a 2 team tournament. It used to be a huge tournament with the cream of Europe and South America playing at it but that was in the days when summer tournaments weren't commonplace.  There was no Emirates or Amsterdam tournaments then and alot of the time Depor weren't actually part of the tournament because they weren't good enough to face the teams coming.

Unfortunately, these days it's slightly more random teams or more usually, teams that we've sold players to and part of the deal includes playing in the Teresa Herrera.  I would imagine you are playing here because it was in either Colo or Xisco's contract.

I hadn't realised that no English club has ever won it until I read it here :o

Liverpool were the last side to try back in 88 but were beaten 5-1 by Atletico in the Semi's and finished 3rd. Everton played the year before but finished 4th. Man Utd finished 3rd in 84 and heres the list of English clubs that took part.

88   Liverpool (3rd)

87   Everton (4th)

84   Man Utd (3rd)

79   West Brom (4th)

75   Stoke City (4th)

60   Newcastle (2nd)*

*only 2 teams in it

Newcastle remain the only English club to make a final, which they'll repeat tonight :D

In 1960, you lost to Sevilla 2-1 in a one off game and your team was :Harvey; Keith, Stokoe, Momichael; Scoutar, Bell; Hughes, Eastham, White, Allchurch, Luke.

Really disappointed that Vuckic won't play, I always seem to miss the games he plays in.  I think I've seen him play once for 20 minutes, I was looking forward to seeing him tonight.

People do it on FM, but I'd love a Bobby Robson summer Cup to start:

Toon

PSV

Barca

...Ipswich

The only way that would work would be with Sporting Lisbon ahead of Ipswich. I know that was his main club in his career but they'd not be able to compete.

Deportivo got any surprises in store in terms of youth talent?

got any more superstars like luque and xisco?!

Sorry mate, we loaned out Bodipo to somewhere in Romania and Mista went to the MLS. They would have frustrated you as equally as the other 2 though. Riki is probably our best striker at the moment and when he's not being shot by snipers in the crowd or whinging at referees, he can be alright. Ireckon we'd accept an offer of about 5 million for him :D

There's some youth there but we're struggling with the talent bit.  Got a young centre back (Rochela 20) who has won trophies with Spain's youngsters and a potentially decent centre midfielder in Juan Dominguez (20). Adrian(22) has played and scored for Spain's U20's and U21's and scored against Barca in the league a couple of seasons ago but lacks consistancy and like half our squad, picks up more than his fair share of injuries. Not sure if 23 still counts as young but if so, Guardado is one of our best players. He's a Mexican International, pretty quick and gets involved in set pieces. He should play the 2nd half tonight.

Some of our loan signings are quite young and half decent. Ruben Perez is 21 and looks pretty comfortable on the ball in the centre of midfield but only seen him for 45 mins against Cardiff last weekend. Urreta (20) is supposed to be a very good left winger but looked pretty pants against Cardiff. Michel (22) is an attacking midfielder on loan from Valencia and looks like he could be a very good player in time. The loanees will all probably start tonight.

my question for the day' date=' just how good are deportivo?[/quote']

Not that good anymore to be honest but hopefully not bad enough to be in a relegation dogfight next year. Something like Blackburn I guess. We just beat Cardiff 1-0 at their place a couple of days ago with a goal 7 minutes from time.

I like Juan Domínguez and Urreta myself. Guardado is easily Depor's best player although he didn't have the best of seasons last year. Guardado/Urreta should give Depor better wingplay than most teams outside European places in La Liga.

When are you dedicating a street to NUFC in La Coruña? Can't think of many people bringing more money to the city than them.
