ChrisJbarnes
Do you love Newcastle united? I for one don't. I personally think its really cringeworthy when you hear plastic chelsea fans kissing the badge on their shirt and saying "I am in love with this club". Footballers as well: fair enough for Shearer, Le Tissier, Gerrard et al but not for those who bang on about loving a club before getting a big money transfer elsewhere. I'm not going to begrudge anyone genuine using the term, but for me I would never use this term in a footballing context. I support my team, I follow my team but I do not love my team. I love my family. Any thoughts?

OzzieMandias
Alan Hull sang, "Love is such a small word for something that is so vast". It has to carry too many meanings in English, I think. Love for a football club isn't the same thing as love for a sibling, or a spouse, or for Gregg's cheese and onion pasties.
