AyeDubbleYoo
As long as we can fit Cabaye and Anita in the team as well then I don't have a problem with Tiote starting, when he's playing somewhere near his best.
Guest Haris Vuckic
Been saving that for a special occasion? Stick to what you know, eh? Like making absurd points about Alan Pardew and pretending to be something you're not on internet forums. Utterly pathetic

mrmojorisin75
i don't understand really, is tiote still a "poor footballer" regardless of how the team is set up or do we now acknowledge he's good when utilised properly in the same way makelele was? would makelele have been the same player he looked at chelsea playing in our team one year ago when they basically stood in straight lines not offering anyone the option for a pass? would anyone for that matter, cabaye was a travesty in the same setup but not subject to the same level of criticism it's almost like players are being judged on different criteria in order to suit your increasingly wayward position ronaldo then again, it's not like anyone was saying this about tiote back in the depths of his shittest period of form like
Guest DebuchyAndTheBeast
One of the rare times I've seen a player in the losing team awarded MoTM probably as a consolation for his wrongly ruled-out wonder goal. That said he'll have to take some shooting lessons from Cabaye and learn to hit it the ball with the inside of his foot (curling the ball ) instead of the front or outside of his foot. Interestingly the few times he crosses the ball of the wings, he does send in some beauties (with the inside of his foot again). Maybe a hidden 10+ goals a season potential there
mrmojorisin75
He's not a poor footballer IMO, always has a v decent pass completion rate and always looks for the ball. He just had an off spell, as players do it was quite a bad patch like, epic in fact, but his game has improved along with increased movement in the side - no coincidence ronaldo was oft saying he'd been "worked out", true to a degree but imo it was as much our system that was worked out as just tiote - teams just used to press us 'cause they knew we were shit at retaining the ball, had no movement in midfield or decent outlets other than belting it to ba/cisse/shola we're more fluid in midfield now, everyone moves more and looks for space to take the ball, shock horror suddenly tiote isn't quite as "worked out"
The College Dropout
He's not a bad passer at all. He can be sloppy at times but he makes the most passes and his pass completion stats are pretty high (high 80's, low 90's). He had a few nice interchanges with Anita. And has been mentioned, he can put a decent cross-in. The shooting on the right foot is an issue. The left? it's a beauty.

Hanshithispantz
TBF to Ronaldo he's never rated Tiote, he's hardly backtracking. Even in his first and best season I remember him lamenting his technical ability.

He just had an off spell, as players do As is generally the case in life ofcourse. Not the best idea to be to quick to write off something that has previously shown itself to be capable of a far better standard. Unless its Shola Ameobi obv. Jayson
He's certainly contributing defensively this season and fair play to him but overall not in the way I want from a central midfielder. He isn't my type of player and never will be, so get over it. I grew up watching footballers play there. Rob Lee, Hamann, Speed and Dyer. I want players in there who drive the team forward and support the attack when possible. In fairness to Cheick, his weaknesses aren't exactly negated by the rest of the midfield who create f*** all, with the occasional exception of Cabaye. if you don't want to be pulled on s***, then don't stalk the forum making absolute declarations about players which turn out to be bollocks You really aren't too bright, are you? Pull me on whatever you want by all means if it helps fills the void on your oil rig, but I won't repeat myself again, dude. I've explained to you that he isn't my type of CM. I'm surprised and impressed that he's not giving away goals and possession like last season but that's as far as it goes. You never learn any sense of humility Ronaldo, so many times you've been shown to post absolute bollocks on occasion (as we all do) & still you'll continue to wonder around the forum like an "always right forum knight" waving his arrogant sword around at every differing opinion as you have a few posts up. Then you cut yourself & get personal when its pointed out? Sort it out man, proper insecure nonsense.
Ronaldo
It must be stupid day for the rubbish section of posters on here, like. I don't have a problem with anyone saying I'm wrong. I do have a problem with anyone saying I'm wrong because I favour a differ approach to football than the nonsense players like Tiote generally facilitate. We all gravitate towards different players and different styles of football.
Deuce
Ronaldo: 'I don't rate them types of players, get over it'... Lotus: 'Did you rate Makelele?'... Ronaldo: 'Yeah' Tiote is far more one-dimensional than Makelele ever was. Doesn't mean he's a bad player by any means, but there's also no inherent contradiction in what Ronaldo said. triggs
By my definition he's a poor CM. I've given this rubbish too much attention now. We need somebody strong and powerful in midfield. I do agree we are in general poor at creating chances but this is down to not playing our most creative players and also because we don't have a number 10. Cabaye is a good centre midfielder but not particularly good at creating chances either.
