FrenchWilliam
Mutko, though, claimed that he had come across unpleasant sentiments when he attended a Newcastle United match three years ago. "I had a fantastic impression. In terms of morality if you take a pencil you can write down some of the things you find there." Errr.... It's not such a huge leap if you ask me. Dude says we weren't squeaky clean morally, Guardian interprets this as there were some unpleasant things. Who the fuck cares?
Broadsword
Yeah actually reading what was said there is no accusation of racism. Neither the Guardian or the Russian says there was racism at that match. Unpleasant sentiments could mean anything.
Guest Roger Kint
They highlight: "Lokomotiv banner no worse than Newcastle in 2007" Why are people not understanding that this is hinting at it?
kingkerouac
Yeah, but the main thrust of the article is about racism, and once again the Guardian uses Newcastle as a convenient scapegoat to place their accusations. This is the third or fourth time The Guardian has, without any evidence, accused Newcastle fans of racism. Surely someone with a bit of legal nous should look into what kind of case we could bring against these liberal hypocrites.
simonlemagnifique
Looks like the original article is down, despite still being the top story on their world cup 2018 page http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/world-cup-2018

Colos Short and Curlies
So he says racism is complicated. He went to a Newcastle game as a fan and got a fantastic impression. Put it in the Guardian converter and that means Newcastle fans are all racist bastards. Perhaps the Guardian thought that his fantastic impression was in our display of extreme racism. Guest ObiChrisKenobi
"I'VE NEVER SEEN SUCH RACISM! They should commended for their extreme impressive morality!" The Russian was later heard saying by the Guardian, though it could have been a sock puppet we made in the press hall.

Big Geordie
If it was the Boro game with the Mido stuff, then it makes you wonder. However we all know The Guardian need no excuse to go on the offensive.

Segun Oluwaniyi
As far as the minister, the Newcastle point is really not that serious. He is essentially saying that bad things happen in matches in England just as they happen in Russia. Which I suppose is true. England does have it's fair share of problems. such as that person who was killed by the flying bin last year. However, I don't think coordinated racism is exactly comparable to a bit of drunken mischief. Also, if you ask the Russian, the banner directed at Osaze Odemwingie wasn't racism at all! I don't have time to find the quotes, but they were saying the racist connotations are coincidental as in Russia the student slang for failing a test is a banana. I suppose they believe the Nigerian failed his test.
Guest malandro
Is it the Mido thing he's talking about? Fuss over nowt. The kind of humour The Guardian would describe as ‘thought provoking irreverence’ if it was performed by some Cambridge drops outs at the Edinburgh fringe. gray
Goal has a different quote "When I saw Hamburg, I was horrified sometimes. In Newcastle I bought my tickets and was among the fans and heard things. Sometimes there are problems like this with Russia. You can find something anywhere." In Newcastle I bought my tickets and was among the fans and heard things. Sometimes there are problems like this with Russia. You can find something anywhere." In a group of 40,000 people there’s always going to be some with extreme views. The big difference between the UK and Russia is the attitude of the authorities. If the Thanks West Brom banner had appeared at a PL ground it would have been removed immediately - in Russia, it would seem, they thought such a blatantly racist banner was OK and should appear on global TV. This bloke from the Russian world club bid should be apologising for the inaction of the Russian stewards/police, not trying to smear other clubs with his shit. stalker
From reading the Russian Minister's quotes he doesn't even necessarily suggest racism, simply says that "morally" there might have been similarities, which could suggest any number of chants etc. It's disgracefully shoddy journalism by the Guardian yet again, we do appear to be an easy target for the national newspapers although I'm very glad that Niall and Biffa from nufc.com keep making it very difficult for them to get away with such libel, if only through badgering the journalists involved. Thespence
Shola must have whacked a wide one in 2007, he is the only black fella that gets on most people tits with his unique brand of football . This commie cunt thinks it was bit rough in 2007 should of took a deek over the Iron curtain in 80's & popped into NE1 4ST most famous landmark on a matchday. I still say things like "useless french cunt" or "useless yorkshire bastard" when some of our lot do things wrong & for the oppo it is things like "cheating argie cunt" or "dirty cockney bastard", I am sure that is not on but football is a game of geographics so I will for the rest of my footballing life refter to the other in the heat of the game by a location either national or regional followed by swear words. merlin
I recently accused one of their journalists of joining this Guardian tirade of misdirected racism accusations, Marina Hyde. She wrote an article following Louise Taylor's piece about us all being racist because a few people were singing songs directed at Mido a few years ago. I was instantly banned form their Comment is Free boards. I have asked their 'people' what I had done wrong, and apparently you can be banned for accusing any of their journalists of anything immoral or wrong. Whereas those Metropolitan privately-educated elites can continue spreading their hatred (and jealousy) of the North whenever it suits them on the pages of the coalition-supporting Guardian. I used to think it was a decent paper, but I now believe all journalists are opportunist scum. The Guardian is a Socialist rag, well past its sell-by date...its rapidly-diminishing circulation is testimony to its relevance in the modern world. They will use an excuse to trot out accusations of racism because that is one of the sacred cows that enables them to pontificate at the so-called Capitalist system, but they will never let truth get in the way of a good bleat. All UK media is rubbish, but I wouldn't even use this discredited brainwashing publication as bog-paper if there was a cactus as an alternative...that is how highly I rate it ! Fitting that Louise is on their staff, a credit to Wearside !
