Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition

I think Qatar's bid looks sound tbh, in terms of infastructure and stadiums etc. I have more faith in them putting on a show than Russia.

The problem with Qatar's bid are the almighty moral issues, but then again there's similar worries with Russia.

Basically, to any sane person who'd had a look through the bids, USA, Australia, Japan and Korea's bids were lightyears ahead of Qatar. The fact Qatar got it is either down to Blatters ego and Nobel Peace Prize aspirations or the FIFA voters being bought. Simples.

There's your problem right there. Half the FIFA members were probably still in the bar when the presentations were on. Might as well have voted by postal vote a week in advance for all the attention that was paid to the actual bids.

The Russian 2018 presentation: Talked about Churchill, spoke in English, two of their key speakers are residents of London/Surrey & they showed a stack pictures of Arsenal. Their plan was genius, make the presentation as English as possible to confuse the voters.

Nah, I do have worries about Qatar. Didn't around 1 million people go to South Africa? The entire population of Qatar is 1,6m I just don't know how can they cope with that. It's just nuts.

Thats how many the BBC sent to cover it so it must of been more than that.

My main problem with Qatar isn't even the moral issues, the fact that the place is so small just makes the thing farcical as far as I'm concerned.

They seem pretty confident that they can cope, like.  :undecided:

Infact wasn't the compact nature of the bid one of their major selling points? It does seem a bit mental that the stadiums will all be in such a small space though.

Wullie is pissing all over Dinho lad, it's starting to get embarrassing for him (Dinho) now.

You mean he is pissing all over me by contradicting himself?  Yeah right... more like internet mates sticking up for each other.

:gayfight:

Wullie, what the fuck is your last post all about?  :dowie: Where have I had a go a the england bid? show me where have I had a go at England "at every opportunity"?? Go on, ya daft shit..... prove that you're not sinking even lower by making things up.

They'll throw enough money at it to make it work, imo, it'll be like Disneyland meets football but they'll pull it off.

I just get the feeling in terms of atmosphere and culture it'll be nothing like a proper World Cup. Qatar is a sterile and artifcial place, after the shopping malls there's little else to see or do.

And you basically can't spend any sort of time outside because of the heat.

Have you got experience of organising big events or something? Because you're certainly pretending like it.

It's not like you have to be an expert to ask these kind of question Dinho. They're fundamental issues with their bid.

I think some of the stuff they've got planned looks outstanding (the air cooled stadiums etc) but it's a massive risk in terms of other issues still (FIFA basically said so themselves).

He's pissing all over you by having a fair point. I couldn't care less who made said point. He's being reasonable, you're being silly.

and do you think FIFA would have ignored it.... do you think they didn't think of solutions to it?  Come on, they're might be corrupt..... but they know how to organise a world cup better than any of us. (Except Wolly maybe.... sorry, Wullie.)

So why did the official FIFA report rate Qatar's technical bid (i.e. can they cope?) as worse than everyone else's?

Listen.... it's not the first time that you've stuck-up for someone simply because you get on better with him than me. You were also the knight in shining armour for ronaldo a while back when we were arguing.

I couldn't give a shit who you like more.... just fuck off with your internet mates tag thing.
