Miami is literally one of the worst sport supporting cities out there. The only reason the Heat get any fandom is b/c they won something and its cool to go to a Heat game. When Wade and LeBron go away one day, the team will go back to filling 50% of the seats and be an after-thought.

They're the Lakers of the east. Except the Lakers also have some base support beneath the celebrity bullshit.

Yup and they still have to be dragged there even with "The Greatest Team of All Time". Half the crowd doesn't get there until the first quarter is nearly over and then they leave early when they're winning (and losing in the finals). Horrible place to put a team.  The MLS had been getting all of the decisions right lately until the 2nd NY team and this.

Yup. The Dolphins will fill up now that they are 3-0 and when/if the season turns for worse it will be empty again. The Marlins have an awful following too. The UM Hurricanes football team are the only well supported team with consistent fan base but my god those are some awful people.

Miami is filled with Cubans and Puerto Ricenos... baseball and "Hi'Li" (whateverthefuckthatis) is what they play. They know nothing of futbol. You are thinking of California and the Southwest where a Hispanic market should make an MLS team work. Cubans even vote Republican FFS... they are very different from most other latino communities in the US.

Money talks, sadly.  The powers that be seem completely oblivious to existing club structures and fanbases in place, that would be more deserving of a franchise.  The case for Orlando looks strong, until...

"Beckham wants Miami?  DONE."

Pathetic.
