Guest
Did Berbatov not refuse to play for Spurs under Jol or am I imagining that?
Martin Lol
He did but that was because he wanted CL with Man Utd. Nothing personal with the manager. If we get Remy, Lloris and Moutinho on top of the other signings, this will be our best window ever.
Wullie
Yeah but then you'll be in financial meltdown.
Guest neesy111
Yeah but then you'll be in financial meltdown. Spurs have plenty of cash available tbh. Just got 30m for Modric.
Ketsbaia
I used to think we were using Spurs' transfer policy as our inspiration but we'd never do what they're about to do. I mean, actually spending money and meeting asking prices? Showing ambition? Groundbreaking stuff.

Wullie
So fuck, we've still got most of the Carroll money having not made its way to the transfer budget. With good reason like, that massive financial mess we're in and all that. Apparently.

Although I'd rather replace 1 star player with 4, than do nothing at all. Guess things are worse at Arsenal though.

Sold Van Persie and get Giroud and Poldolski Sold Song as well, meaning their two best players have left them. Regardless of replacements, you don't want to do that. It's asking much of replacements to reach the levels of those two. I'd say the same applies for Spurs. Dembele is a decent signing, but he's no Modric. They'll upgrade on Friedel with Lloris, but Vertonghen - who I think will be brilliant - still has to prove himself in a far more competitive league. Compare that to Coloccini and/or Taylor, who we know both are capable of impressing in this league. Keeping players you know can hack it is better than replacing them. Our inability to add depth to that is still a worry, and replacing the one starter who we know struggles at times is just plain stupidity.
Beren
BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty: "Everton are hopeful of completing a deal worth around £5m for FC Copenhagen's 22-year-old Costa Rican international Bryan Oviedo before Friday's transfer deadline. "Oviedo is a left-sided player who can figure in defence or midfield." As time passes by, and Everton do more business in this window, I grow increasingly angry at fucking Man City. At least Chelsea splash their cash predominantly abroad ffs. That Rodwell transfer, man. I actually found part of myself hoping that Liverpool beat them midway through their game the other day. RATTLED. Little bit! We sold Carroll for an over-inflated fee and though we didn't spend it all in one tranche, it served us well going forward to get Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Cabaye They've done the same with Rodwell (who while good, is not worth that much) and may serve to prosper from it in the next season or so. If there was enough time left in the window to bolster the squad, it makes me wish we could flog an overrated player of ours to some lazy (but rich) club for another £35m.
