Guest bimpy474 Posted May 28, 2011 Share Posted May 28, 2011 I hate to say this but it seems Ashley and Co are using a bit of common sense here, a bit like Milan did in the 80's, when they signed Gullit, Van Basten and *Rijkard*. You sign 3 or so players (french or french speaking) so they settle together, so their wives/girlfriends/kids can also settle as they have ready made friends. Makes sense football sometimes In the Gameiro and Gervinho topics, I don't think enough has been made of what a good opportunity Newcastle presents for players - not because I am deluded about the status of the club, but because of the appeal of the league. But without kidding themselves they probably realise they're not going to go far in it. Playing in the PL against Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea; even Spuds, Liverpool and City; is probably as big of a draw, if not bigger, to them tbh. A super city for the foot and an interesting challenge since it is sure to be titular in a club which will try to return while hanging Europe. It is a project over several years in my opinion.
