Sylvain Marveaux - arrested

Recommended Posts

Karlsens take - when he was looking Liverpool bound:

(Google translated...)

Sylvain Marveaux. A scout colleague described the Frenchman last fall as "Florent Malouda without physics". By this he meant that Rennes-man isn't a classic one dimensioned wing type that gets lost as soon as he loses the smell of chalk, but rather a wide player type (originally played as a central attacking midfielder) who likes to draw inward to engage in offensive attack moves in the center of the track - or simply have a shot himself.

The 25-year-old from France possesses a first class left-foot, good 1v1 skills with a low gravity point, good basic techniques (touch, quick close controll) and a large dribbling register. Before the latest injury, many was fascinated by his acceleration (extreme), but like many other explosive players, his career has been plagued by tension and muscle injuries around the groin and thigh. And usually the acceleration of football players fade in line with the operations and procedures.

His Injury history is certainly a great paradox. Previously, both Chelsea and Arsenal we're after the player, but it is probably the jagged health condition that eventually got the two Premier League rivals to withdraw from competition for 25-year-old.

Time will show whether Dalglish value Marveaux as a pure left wing (because he is left-legged) or on the opposite edge - thus maximizing his ability to draw into the field and provide good working conditions for his shooting foot. Or it may be that the Frenchman will find its place more centrally, in a rotation role behind lone striker (to guard against a lack of defensive effort).

But the Frenchman is thus free (Bosman), and although I am not convinced that Marveaux will ever provide more value than a role as an effective squad player, the 172 cm long (short) wing adds qualities that Liverpool are missing today. Put another way: Marveaux can finally bring to the club the qualities Joe Cole should have delivered.

For me Marveaux seems to be a supplement - a versatile attacking player who is equally capable of gaining the Kop-gasp on good days as disgruntled moaning on the less good days.

Just been looking at the dippers RAWK site and though most of them now think "he's shit and not good enough", it does seem that March when they thought that they were signing him , a lot of the dippers were worried that he seems to be very injury prone.

Hope the medical team know what they're doing.

Injury problems, who cares? At least it's another player in so A.P is a step closer to say we've had a good transfer window despite shipping out Nolan, Barton, Jose and who knows who else...

If it's on a free we surely can't complain...

We'll be paying his wages, though.

Aye, but if he fits into our new wage structure and he's came on a free it's not going to have any real detrimental effect. I'd imagine at least one of the three we have brought in will be a quality signing, and if that means spending £1.5million pound or so more by the replacement of Nolan and addition of one of these three then chances are it's cost us nowt because we'd have saved on Nolans wages....

I'm basing a lot of this on assumption like - just trying to remain positive about the direction we're heading. I loved Nolan.  :weep:

Still, nice to have a bit of a French wizard on the left. We'll be looking at an all Francophone midfield soon.

Our front six (assuming we go 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1) is N'Zogbia away from being all Francophone.

          Tiote  Cabaye

N'Zogbia  HBA    Marveaux
