France is the one country I wouldn't see us buying a dud, for me it seems to be the hub of our scouting in Europe.

It surprises me that noone on this forum has questioned why his value has dropped by half in the last two years.

Lyon drastically overpaid for him in the first place. Porto bought him for 250k after a good half-season at Setubal, 6 months later Lyon buy him for roughly £13m. It was ridiculous and a perfect example of Porto's transfer strategy.

I remember A.C Milan were really close on buying him for the same amount Lyon paid.

But they pulled out because of his teeth problems.

For #NUFC fans, don't get carried away with the Cissokho move, he's not World Class, yet to see him play a good cross so far this season 1/2

Has struggled physically with a few match ups. Poyet won every aerial battle with him yesterday and not once has he beat a man to the byline

Bloke specialises in French football.

I wouldn't pay to much attention to that journalist suggesting that he's not playing well I watched the Lyon game against Rubin last week and was very impressed linked up with Bastos really well... definitely be fortunate if we get a left back of Cissokho standard.

I'm not going to get my hopes up yet. There's every chance our (non) negotiating team will fuck this up like they did with Erdinc.

I got the impression that Erdinc didn't want to leave PSG, and said as much - so not sure that is the clubs fault, other than maybe pursuing it a bit too long.

He's signing for Rennes isn't he? In which case he is prepared to leave PSG. What I heard was that we couldn't agree terms with his agent and he's now going to Rennes who didn't have that problem.

Or, like Gameiro, would not leave the French league for anywhere other than Spain.

We've not lodged a bid or even started negotiations have we?

That's as good a reason as any to not get your hopes up.

Maybe. Was it Luke Edwards who said we could have signed some of our targets including Erdinc if we'd been prepared to pay a million or two more?

Doesn't ring a bell, but you may well be right.

/that said, I'm pretty cynical when it comes to believing that Luke Edwards would be privvy to such info.
