Ridman
Should be our number one target come january, would be perfect for us imo. Cisse Marveaux HBA Jonas Tiote Cabaye New LB - Colo - Saylor - Santon And we´d easily have a team able to challange for the top

Guest Rainforest
This was probably the best striker we had any chance of getting. His 22 goals for a pathetic-looking Freiburg-side looks quite similar to the 11 goals half-way in that Carroll gave us. Would probably have been a genuinly worthy Carroll-successor, not that we will ever know now though. His price-tag is nothing shocking, its what these kind of players go ( and should go) for. Sadly though, we are always looking to pay about half of that sum, making any signing we do manage to land either injury-ridden, coming off one or more bad seasons, diciplinary problems etc.. Put bluntly we are not willing to pay what players are worth.

Cisse up top Pieters or Cissokho at LB, a young up and coming CB like Situ and we have a team that could really push for European places and win trophies. Just one problem ......Ashley and Llambias. I really can't see it happening! They won't be spending the type of money we need to get a top quality striker in. Best, Shola or Ba will be spearheading our attack. Prepare for some frustrating times ahead. What a prat Derek is cocking up the Situ deal on top of the striker situation. That could easily come back to haunt us big time. Ridman
34 goals in 53 games for a team that has finished 9th and 14th in the league for the past two seasons is a fantastic record. Pathetic that we weren´t able to cough up the money needed to bring him in.

The infuriating side of it is that it could easily happen with a normal chairman.
Guest Rainforest
Agreed, provided they learnt how to play together of course.

I honestly wanted to go so much, but anyway, the window is finished. I have a contract with Freiburg and I don't want to have a battle with them. I'm waiting for the right moment, Newcastle bid €12m for me, but the bid was too late."
Unbelievable
We rule at this transfer business don't we?
Guest
Unacceptable. I bet we faffed on with the Maiga & Roux offers thinking they'd give in late on Wednesday, it didn't happen, then these last minute panic attempts for him, Gignac, Ruiz, etc. came about. Rubbish. Guest
No doubt it'll be a repeat of the N'Zogbia thing. We'll offer less than this in January and he'll go somewhere else. Predictable.
Tooj
Wait a minute, you mean clubs don't have to sell their best striker so late on deadline day as they wouldn't have had the time to find a replacement? We mustn't have got that memo.

eliassenfredrik
Fucks sakes. We had to wait until the last day. Offer the money you cunts, that's the way it goes with top players I'm afraid. It'll be some new circus number choreographed by Ashley and Llambias, come January. At least HBA is back soon to keep us forgetting for most of the waiting time, if we are going in for the kill on the Cisse-matter.

We'll probably do the same this january knowing full well that the transfer can't come off.
oldtype
I think I've well and truly given up on transfer windows now. The club will not spend massive money and it will not buy players unless it can get them for under their "market value." Expect nothing and anything we get becomes a bonus. I'd rather just enjoy the games the best I can.
Disco
Honigstein was saying this on Football Weekly. Bid €12m but Freiburg wanted €15M therefore no deal.
