BlueStar
If we're making the comparison with booze, by the way, does that mean the Wonga brand shouldn't be on kids tops, babywear etc, as is the case with alcohol sponsorship?

It shouldn't be on anything other than tattooed on the underside of Ashley's foreskin.
BlueStar
How is that possible Bluestar? They're so eager to lend money that there are very few checks in place. So there are instances where they've credit checked one person, given the loan to another, and then chased up the innocent party for the repayments. In some cases, people who've never even heard of them found that they were taking money directly out of their account without their permission. As long as they have the name of someone they can later threaten and shake down, they're not too arsed.
TaylorJ_01
It's ridiculous that a company can offer you a loan 'in 15 minutes' or however long they claim. Scandalous.

Stifler
Sickening, honestly I won't buy a shirt that has Wonga on it, I've long said companies like them should be illegal, I can't willingly wear a shirt with their brand on it.

BlueStar
It's ridiculous that a company can offer you a loan 'in 15 minutes' or however long they claim. Scandalous. Well, you see, the way it works is that if someone takes out a loan with Wonga and Wonga don't make it clear that they charge 4000% APR, it's not Wonga's fault because the person should have done their research. If Wonga give out loans to people without checking they are who they say they are properly, it's not that Wonga should have done their research it just means Wonga are the victims of fraud and that's not Wonga's fault either. BlueStar
As for 'as long as it's for the good of the club I don't care if we're sponsored by Union Carbide, Bhopal Division", bear in mind that Wonga only seem to be one legal ruling from complete and utter disaster at any time. They've had a few narrow escapes dodging rulings over their failure to implement fraud prevention measures, misleading adverts and shady collection practices. Unless they're giving us the whole lot cash in hand now, it's one of the riskier companies we could be backed by. And that's before considering the lost revenue from shirt sales and the damage to the Newcastle brand amongst more respectable companies who don't want to be associated with such a toxic brand. LFEE
Not sure if already been mentioned in this thread or others but have you noticed when the club is going to do something possibly deemed unpopular they always pick the start of an international break to announce it allowing the outcry to subside in time for next match... Was it this thread or another topic recently that someone fairly early said something along the lines of 'the news would be just in time for the international break'? It's spot on.
