tend to agree, these people who take these deals are inherently stupid with respect.

Does these people being “inherently stupid” make taking the p*ss out of them right?  They go with Wonga and the like because nobody else will give them a loan, they don't do it out of choice most of the time, it's out of necessity and that's a big difference.

in which part of that was i taking the piss out of them?

i work in these type of peoples houses alot. some of them are very nice people and some are not. got money for 40 inch plasma tvs and fags though.

nobody has starved in this country for 200 years, why do they need loans from wonga?

People's option to go with Wonga at the end of the day.

And?  People chose to do a lot of things for different reasons, it doesn't make it right and let's be honest nobody would make that choice unless they had to.

I don't like companies like Wonga, but they aren't doing anything illegal so there's not much I can do about it. Take it up with your MP, maybe that one who's got her knickers in a twist and see if you can get them outlawed if you feel strongly enough about it.

I don't know much about the controversies regarding the company itself, but purely in terms of aesthetics of the brand, i can't see it looking too bad on the shirt tbh. At least it's vaguely symmetrical, rather than just a 'stick this there then stick 'money' next to it' like the current one. It's a bit of a garish colour but meh, can't see it looking so bad.

Agreed. Wonga is an unknown company over here and the mockup of the shirt some pages back looked a damn sight better than the current one with VM as far as I am concerned. On the other hand I can see why fans living in the UK wouldn't be thrilled about walking around with a replica shirt advertising such a dubious company to be fair.

Edit: was on about this:

It looks fucking hideous

It's a bank. Bank owners make money from people who need money. If you are agreeing to a higher rate as a customer, you make that choice on your own. Can't see why people go :frantic: about this.

Good news about SJP, good news (hopefully) about finding a new sponsor. Yes, I would still prefer to have Newcastle Breweries and the Blue Star back, but it's 2012.

Wonga is supposed to, as any company that loans money is, check the ability of the applicant has income to pay it back, and says it checks if employed. They also however do this via the internet and they boast within 15mins, shockingly they get it wrong a lot.

People may be stupid to use them but doesn't make it any less dirty a business.

Hope our next sponsor is a heroin dealer. I mean, they're not bad people, it's people's own stupid fault for buying it.

Ever so slight difference regarding legality there.

But people aren't talking about legality, they're talking about morality - but as it comes up anyway, the legality of Wonga's operation comes into regular question. The company could see its business model effectively outlawed at pretty much any point over the course of the four years.

It could actually happen. Stella Creasy has been pursuing this for years .

Not true sometimes Mick, plenty of people go to places like that because they have to have something. They don't need it or cant afford it but they have to have it......we are in a world like that now.

Aye, things like gas, electricity, food etc.  We're talking about people who have nothing, not people who are looking for a night at the theatre.

Aye, not good when its like that. Mind you a fair few go because they cant wait to save up the money for a new phone or whatever new gadget takes their fancy, they get themselves into trouble by being plain stupid. My rules (not being skint this is easier to say) are i only buy if i have the money. I'm thankful i dont need help with bills, suppose i'm only a sack away from being in trouble though.

Some do granted, but I'd wager the vast majority don't.

Very true, aye.

I wasn't on about you taking the piss out of anybody, I was on about wonga charging 1% interest per day and by doing so taking the piss out of people who aren't in a position to go elsewhere.

Nice stereotype, I bet they are all on the dole and have dozens of kids and spend all day in the pub.

Oh. A financial institution that lends money to people, making profit from it. I apologize.

if you saw some of the houses, you dont wipe your feet on the way in, you wipe them on the way out. they simply do not care about life. a 500 quid debt would be meaningless.

I have no doubt some people will go for these loans because they want a new phone or something along those lines and they deserve all they get in interest charges.  I have a massive problem with people who are trying to live off state benefits and are struggling to pay for essentials that most of can and will take for granted.

I just hope that none of us are in a position to have to find out what that’s like because I can’t get my head around how bad it must be.
