Guest Nixon
If Perch is to go, it'll be frustrating. Not because he has a realistic future at the club, but more because we're doing the right steps in the wrong order. I like Perch, typical cult hero, not much skill but full of effort and commitment to the cause. You really feel as if he values the chance we've given him and that he is a Premier League footballer ™. However as we saw during our late season dip, he's far too limited a player for the rigours of Premier League football. He contributes next to nothing on the attack and his technical skill means he couldn't even be made into a box to box player. We really need to be moving him on when we're confident in those ahead of him. At present I'd say having Bigirimana is a start, but I think we need a stronger core of young midfielders before I'd really want to let him go. In fact I'd rather we shipped Dan Gosling out first, he actually has no skills whatsoever, at least Perch can tackle now and again.
Guest neesy111
Perch being moved on according to the Mirror.... silly decision if true, he has been mostly dependable, solid back up in a number of positions. A better Aaron Hughes, plenty of others clogging up the team before him. Better than Aaron Hughes, good grief. Perch is a shocking footballer, who offers zero protection when playing in midfield. Yep, Aaron Hughes was a good utility player not anything more. Thats harsh on Perch imo, he shouldn't be starting but he gives us his all and has had more good games than bad, including a plethora of important blocks inside our box. The his worst games have come this season with equally terrible performances if not worse surrounding him, easy scapegoat when "better" players get off lighter. Did you watch us finish 4th, 3rd and 5th with Aaron Hughes at right back then? Perch is a clogger, simple as.
Ronaldo
A better Aaron Hughes ffs.

Guest bimpy474
Pardew's been banging on about a LM/LW for a while now, that gone out the window then. Fwiw, i'll take no notice as Ashley could buy no one or go mad a bit and buy four. Paper knows nowt, same as us really.

He needed replacing in the team however and wasn't good enough to be starting.
Guest bimpy474
I liked Aaron Hughes.
Ketsbaia
Well we should've learnt not to believe any story about the club unless its from a direct, quoted source. And even then, it's probably bullshit.
ponsaelius
The thought of the Perchinho fanclub being upset about this makes me smile.

Guest
Aye, I'd take Debuchy, Santon, Haidara and probably Ferguson as cover for the full-back spots.
Ketsbaia
Anita too, to Pardew's despair.
Sifu
So I guess we're counting on the likes of Sammy and Fergie to be properly ready for the PL then? I'm sure their loan spells did them some good but if things go to s*** again and we throw them straight in amongst it again, can see their confidence dipping a bit (especially if Pardew decides to have a go at the youth players when things aren't going well). I was disappointed Tavs looked so nervous and essentially out of depth when he played for us. Thought he we come through and be cover at RB, not so confident now. Expect some quotes from Pardew about how great they can be and its a big season for them. In fact he has already talked about how next year will be big for them and they got lots of experience from this year to grow. Six months earlier didn't he said they were far from ready, not to be relied on and in fact one of the main reasons we were where we were at Christmas. Guess 9 months will change every young player. Guest
To be fair, they're both at the age now where they should be close to the first-team at a Premier League team if they're ever going to make it.

And if Debuchy gets an injury, this is the sort thing the club should have learnt by now.
Ronaldo
Sammy's only here because of his useless brother, let's not pretend it's any different.

That's the thing, I have no confidence in Pardew in nurturing the youth players - especially not after him having a go at them this season.
midds
A striker and a CB? That it? They haven't got a fucking clue. It took Pardew 37 games to ensure survival which included buying him half a new team in January ffs. Adding just 2 quality players to this pool of players could be fine if the manager had a clue, but he hasn't. If they genuinely think that's enough to get through next season then they're retarded, spending big on players means nothing if the bloke who manages them hasn't got a clue. It's the epitome of false economy.
