I still think there is far more to this than just the Wonga stuff. I think the fact neither side have said fuck all about it is what's fuelling people to get into long arguments about it.

Maybe the whole squad can refuse the wear the shirt, so we can get rid of fucking Puma.

Maybe we should just go out there and buy a quality striker who will wear the piece of shit Wonga badge?

At the moment it looks like

Bent: no thanks I fancy London

Gomis: no thanks I fancy Marseilles

Remy: no thanks I fancy forced sex and keeping the 80k/week wage packet

It's all so fucking stupid. He's a professional footballer. He knew going in that his shirt was going to have the name of a sponsor that he'd have no role in selecting in big bold letters right on the front. It's part of the gig. If he's unhappy and wants to move on he should man up and say so. If he's really having a moral/religious issue about this, then he's fucking stupid.

So was Freddie Kanoute in that case. Difference there was that Sevilla's loyalty was to their star player, while we don't actually give the first fuck about being good at football so we're standing up for the loan sharks that we've jumped into bed with.

Why did Kanoute wear the shirt after a game or two, anybody know ?.

In contrast to his previous employer, Sevilla at first permitted him to wear a shirt with no sponsor on it and then persuaded him that simply by wearing the logo it didn't imply that he was endorsing gambling. In addition he was excused personal appearances at events connected with the sponsor. A grown-up negotiation that treated the player as an adult and as a valued individual.

I honestly don't see how a statement from the club could have made anything worse. It's just typical of the club's God-awful PR. Even if they peddled a load of bullshit (which they're great at), it might have halted any escalation in the press like this. Just a bit of a summary about what the fuck is actually going on with him, instead of saying absolutely nothing as usual, whilst allowing the tabloids to nose-dive on it like the shit-stirring vultures they are. So fucking naive, as usual.

They've nose-dived on the wrong party, too. Instead of chastising Cisse, they could have made the board members look like shit by referring to the Kanoute stuff - which I've only ever seen referred to as a previous occurrence of a similar problem (not a comparison of how we've dealt with the issue so badly, as usual).

That's what makes me believe there is more to it because using the Kanoute example I can't see why he couldn't agree to wear it but be allowed to say publicly that he doesn't endorse Wonga.

It wasn't the harassment that made me answer some questions. It was the fact that someone asked me a question and if someone asks me something I normally answer them. Like I've said above, I never spread the picture and I don't even have twitter so hardly made sure journos knew about it.

Look north wanted to do a video today which I refused as there is no way I want to be on tele. I've only said he was there that night and he was betting small amounts for a premier league player.

So you didn't want to be on tele, big deal.

Do you think Cisse wanted to be splashed all over the papers in a casino?

Cisse's my favourite player, but enough of this rubbish.

Yep... It probably needed something like this to hopefully bring it to a head... Doesn't leave him with much room to wriggle despite his agent coming out today saying Cisse doesn't gamble...

He didn't know it would be a sponsor like this though, especially as other clubs have rejected sponsorship deals due to the same issues he has.

You could say "He knew he'd have to play in the role the manager gave him" but there's a difference between being asked to play as a second striker and being asked to play in nets

The papers took it from twitter - I didn't post it on the internet. When he goes to a casino he.must know he is.going to be recognised because of the job he has.
