Guest Roger Kint
I didnt notice that Evans continues kicking him as the ref walks over mind. Both so fucking thick
Hughesy
Genuinely don't get why there is a 6 match automatic ban for spitting but not some potentially career ending tackles. Priorities completely wrong.
Hanshithispantz
Also, our fans, ladies and gents: lordbuckethead • 16 minutes ago my two penn'orth ... 1 - while it's disgusting and can spread diseases, I'd rather be spat at than have my leg snapped in two 2 - Evans is pretty useless so will be no big loss for Man Utd 3 Cisse - I'm not a fan. Hope ban is long and costly. (recap) refused to wear shirt when Wonga became new sponsor as it conflicted with his religious beliefs (charging interest is banned under Islam/sharia law) Shortly after he was filmed gambling in a casino. Gambling is also forbidden under sharia law. 4 - neither of these donkeys actually managed to hit the target from a few feet! Thick as pig's shit. Priorities completely wrong. Especially for Cisse, who was reacting to someone spitting on him for no apparent reason I'm not defending his actions, it's horrible, but a 6 game ban for it is pathetic. There's no justification for it what-so-ever.

Agreed - obviously it's a disgusting thing to do, but spitting always seems to get elevated to the level of the worst thing you can ever do on a football field. AyeDubbleYoo
It was quite pathetic spitting as well, so maybe only half a ban.
Hanshithispantz
A 45 minute ban?
Hanshithispantz
That would be a good idea actually, instead of banning people for full games for innocuous shit, just give then a 45 minute ban.
The College Dropout
Taking into account his elbow - his uncharacteristic indiscipline this season a longer ban is justified. I do think had he not retaliated with a spit, Evans would've escaped a ban.
Hanshithispantz
I don't see how a longer ban is justified in any way really, a 3 game ban is already extensive and more than enough punishment for almost any wrongdoing on a football pitch. Adding extensions to this doesn't achieve anything, it just adds further separation from the elite clubs and the rest. Chelsea or Man City lose a player for 6 games and they can usually replace them with a suitable replacement, most of the rest of the league can't. Petty shit will happen on a football field, throwing extensive bans at people isn't the answer though.
TRon
Cisse was stupid to react but it would never have happened if that little shit hadn't spat at him in the first place. Easy to say he shouldn't have reacted, but a lot of people would have done a lot worse in the heat of the moment. Personally though I'd rather be spat at then have someone try to go through my leg with a high tackle.
AyeDubbleYoo
Yeah, sport is strange in that provocation isn't a mitigating circumstance. Your opponent can do anything to you and if you react you're treated the same as him, if not more harshly.

Yeah, I usually wouldn't mind if the punishment was sensible in the first place, but 6 games, even for Evans, is ridiculous. For Cisse it seems insane (and even more insane if it's extended to 7). Whoever is making these decisions needs hockling on.

If you're going to get banned for spitting, he might as well have made it a big flemmy greeny and hockled it right across Evans's face. There's a nice thought as you tuck into your lunch............ All of this. + Hans post about how a 6 match ban for spitting. The fuck man. In retrospect, if you break someone's leg with a nasty tackle, you may just go unpunished. But spitting is far worse. This sport is fucking stupid sometimes.
AyeDubbleYoo
TBF I do think spitting is worse than a generic bad tackle, but not as bad as violent conduct like a stamp. Bad tackles are part of the game.

Kimbo
George Boyd got a 3 game ban for the exact same thing not long ago, the talk of extended bans seems a bit weird to me.

Leek
The FA love things like this in publicised issues where the intent is clear to see, they'll come down hard to look as though there a zero tolerant organisation and look for credit from everyone. When it comes to any footballing incident where intent is as clear cut as someone spiting or biting, isnt picked up by the media or isnt backed from the public they'll continue to bottle it and go along trying not to upset the apple cart.
