binnsy
i'm happy to cahnge it depending on the opposition, good thing is we have players comfortable in various formations happy to go horses for courses.
Tiresias
Douglas Saylor Colo Santon Cabaye Tiote Jonas HBA Cisse Ba Three at the back is the future! Ok in reality 4-3-3 / adaptable.

madras
like this season recently, i don't think we'll have a set formation as such. at times it's been difficult to tell if we've been 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, fluid, mobile and an absolute joy after the lest few years, movement. Yorkie
Will be really disappointed if we revert back to 4-4-2, in the same way Keegan seemed to abandon the 4-3-1-2 just before he left. Long term, we don't need to change a front six that saw us win so many games. The only player i'd be tempted to upgrade on would be Jonas, but i'd have no problem with him retaining that role he performed so well in. Without disrespecting a defense that has 14 clean sheets this season, the only positions we need to properly upgrade on are centre-back and left-back (with Santon switching sides). --------------------------------------- Krul --------------------------------------- Santon --------------- New CB ------------ Coloccini -------------- New LB -------------- Jonas --------------- Tiote ------------- Cabaye --------------- -- Ben Arfa ----------------------- Cisse -------------------------------- Ba -- ... is how i'd like to see us line-up on the first day of the season. I think we could use another striker considering the ACoN, but i'd be content with those being the only two incomings, assuming nobody left. We don't need wholesale changes to the squad, it's fresh and raw enough as it is. Pards has performed a bit of a masterstroke embedding a team ethic and chemistry with a collection of players that were so unfamiliar. The fact that many are excellent footballers has helped, like. Obviously, certain games will require a different sort of set-up, such as the last two. EDIT: or basically what everyone else said...

Skirge
We don't need to be making massive changes to personnel, as far as first team starters go only Simpson & Williamson need replaced. Starting 11 of Krul Santon Douglas Colo Pieters HBA Cabaye Tiote Jonas Ba Cisse BENCH New Keeper S Taylor Perch New DCM Marveaux Best Shola That squad is adaptable to many formations & has a strong enough bench. At home vs lesser teams I think this could be a very tasty side --------------------Krul ------Staylor----Douglas------Colo Sant---------------------------------Pieters -----------Cab------------Tiote ---Benny-----------------------------Ba -------------------Cisse

Guest
I think that's our strongest with the players we're likely to have starting the season but like Disco said, different formations for different scenarios, and we showed against Bolton at home we have the players to switch between 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 if things aren't going well, or in the case of Chelsea away, switching from 4-3-3 and a hiding at Wigan to a 2-0 away win with a 4-4-2 days later. BrettNUFC
Krul Debuchy Taylor Coloccini Santon Ben Arfa Tiote Cabaye Jonas Cisse Ba Nice and simple. Nothing complicated '4-4 fucking 2'. I hope we do go with this as our main strength side but then adapt it for certain games.
captainhaircut
Our two most creative players are Ben Arfa and Cabaye. In a 4-5-1/4-3-3 they play further up the pitch than they do in a 4-4-2. Both of them showed they are far more effective in a 4-3-3 so 4-3-3 has to be the way forward for me. Still though, if Demba's not happy playing on the left, I guess the best thing to do is change the whole team to accommodate him.
Dave
Reading some of the posts on here you'd think we were having a really shit season until West Brom away.
Guest BooBoo
There's gonna be a meltdown on here in the first two minutes of the Spurs game when it becomes apparent we're playing 4-4-2.
Guest
I think personnel has a lot to do with it too. If you think, from the unbeaten run last year we could go from Krul Simpson R.Taylor Coloccini S.Taylor Obertan Jonas Tiote Cabaye Ba Best to.... Krul Debuchy Santon Coloccini S.Taylor/Newbie Ben Arfa Marveaux Tiote Cabaye Ba Cisse Even playing 4-4-2 I see big improvements there.
Dave
Exactly. I don't normally like doing this as there are a number of big assumptions but: Krul Debuchy S.Taylor Coloccini Santon Ben Arfa Cabaye Tiote Marveaux Cisse Ba Is someone going to seriously suggest they're not excited by that line-up? junkhead
Exactly. I don't normally like doing this as there are a number of big assumptions but: Krul Debuchy S.Taylor Coloccini Santon Ben Arfa Cabaye Tiote Marveaux Cisse Ba Is someone going to seriously suggest they're not excited by that line-up? There are concerns over the strikers' partnership. Don't want to be too harsh but I feel in most games, we'd be better as a team if only one of Cisse/Ba plays. While Ba can be useful in more deeper roles, his best performances for us and West Ham have come in the poacher role. Still, I'm happy with our squad depth even if we don't bring more new players, as long as Marveaux and Stevie Taylor stay fit.
Dave
Just because they've not exactly been Yorke and Cole so far doesn't mean it's anything to worry about. Ba and Cisse are both comfortably better than Best, Ameobi and Lovenkrands who all got starts last season. I'd be confident that both would score plenty of goals if the rest of the team played well and gave them chances. http://i.imgur.com/4dVaf.png The 4-3-3 was brilliantly fluid at times but it alone didn't make our season.
