Nice. The addition of players with Filipino heritage such as the Younghusbands and Etheridge seem to help the team to a new level. It wasn't long before that the Philippines were whipping boys and now they are regularly a match for regional powerhouses like Vietnam. Wouldn't be surprised to see them replicate their Semi-Finals spot last time round.

Aye. They'll be much stronger in the semis as well with more of their European-based players released. Would defo go see them if they make it then have the home leg in Manila. :D

Was never the most ardent fan of the national team, but hey, if it gets everybody around me talking about football then I'm all for it.

Aye, it's great to have positive jibes around your team, and your team can only get better. Maybe Filipinos will care less about basketball. :yao:

Singapore facing Indonesia tomorrow. Squad includes a 42 year old Duric, which is testament to his professionalism and career longevity but also goes to show we are falling behind in our next generation of players. Striker Khairul Amri was the next big thing but sadly made of glass and it has pretty much ruined a promising career. Shame also that we can't send (National Service commitments/ red tape) our young talent like Hariss Harun overseas like the Malaysians had done with their youth team.

F*** it let's just win this damn thing and see if they parade like Pacquiao in the streets of Manila. :yao: The basketball love is as unbreakable as Tony Hibbert's goal duck, and although football's rising here, it's pointless without football pitches as top-notch as the basketball facilities. Though we might get a proper 50k national stadium within the next two years.

Honestly didn't expect the Malaysia result to go that way. Been looking into Singaporean pages and they seemed to be calling for their manager's head prior to the tournament. Maybe one of those typical "performing when it matters" stories. As it stands though, a Singapore-Philippines semifinal is on the cards. ;)
