I reckon, and its only my own personal twist on things, that DL would be more than happy to keep Pardew but Ashley himself having invested all that money in January, will not be happy with how things have panned out since January, especially the embarrassing defeat to the mackems. A defeat that could yet well seal Pardew's fate.

I could well imagine Ashley thinking we should be doing better with the players we have, while DL plays the stability card. Both are chancers, as is the manager of course, so it really is all up in the air so to speak as to what can, could and maybe even will happen once the season ends.

My own personal belief is that Pardew will survive but his cards are marked and the first 10 or so games of next season will determine whether he stays or goes long-term.

The investment in January was Ashley's showing his concern that we would be relegated and also showing his hand that for Pardew at least, there can now be no more excuses. We now have a very good squad compared to what we started this season with and should have kicked on massively January onwards but today we still stare relegation in the face.

Llambias is the key man in all of this IMO. Especially for Pardew.

That sounds like a pretty realistic scenario to me.

It's better than sticking with what hasn't worked this season. Some fresh ideas wouldn't go amiss.

People need to get out of this mentality that Pardew's on the cusp of being sacked IMO.

It's like treating kidney failure by taking an ibuprofen. That doesn't mean I think he'll be sacked btw, I just think it's a case of fiddling while Rome burns.

Llambias will do whatever his master wants him to do. If Ashley wants Pardew gone nothing Dekka says will matter a jot.

Not having a go at either of you but it's just basically speculation based on a hunch. Not sure how anyone knows anything about the dynamic of the Ashley / Llambias relationship and therefore which one is a bigger Pardew fan than the other.

If they are thinking of giving him a limited number of games into next season then he's got to go at the end of this one.  If we give him 10 games and decide to replace him we'll be looking for another Pardew or Souness to come in.  We'll be looking for managers who are our of work or are about to get the sack.  The best thing the club can do it get this season over and dump him and move on.

Interesting that Hislop used a phrase there that quite a few of our players and coaching staff have used whilst he's been here - "hitting the front players early"

He's a master of spin - it's just another way of saying Wimbledon circa 1992. There's still people on here who don't think he plays the long ball, that just boggles my mind.

Pardew managed West Ham, Llambias had a box at West Ham, see a connection?

It's only because of Wilo and Simpson we play long balls man, remember?

That's my view as well, I just don't think we can afford to sit on our hands and risk sabotaging another season. Players who are at important stages of their career don't have time to piss about while Pardew experiments with coaches, they will want to hit the ground running next season. I still think the next 4 games are massively important in Pardew's future. If we show some fight and cohesion he might get another crack. If we limp over the line and come close to getting relegated then he surely has to go. The fact we are still worrying about this with only 4 games left is a massive indictment in itself.

I just can't see him being sacked once the season ends. DL for me has Ashley's ear if you like. I know for a fact he (DL) and Pardew socialise and are good friends. Ashley and DL are also friends but not in the same way Pardew and DL are from my own understanding. It was DL who suggested Pardew to Ashley who from everything I have heard about the man, is happy to let others he deems more knowledgeable about the game than he, make key decisions or at least have a major input. So long as he doesn't lose money.

We are basically relying on DL seeing the light if you like

People who think Ashley will allow Pardew the opportunity to cost him £millions are living on another planet.  He might personally like Pardew but I can't see him settling for us struggling above relegation when he has so much at stake financially. Ashley was quite happy to p*ss off the entire support base with his treatment of Keegan and he was happy to take the same risk with Shearer, Pardew would be much easier for him to bin.

!00%. Robson even says in that interview "conman" will tell you his team are playing great football when they aren't.

I know we've got the benefit of hindsight, but it's insane how spot on his comments are.

Ashley and Llambias are really close, you shouldn't doubt that and Llambias was the first choice as Chairman until the City of London Police turned up at the club and we ended up bringing in a lawyer.

It's just like Brummie with his MON comments. Managers don't change their ways - if they fail, they stubbornly try their methods somewhere else. Very few evolve but those that do become the best in the world. Pardew will never be that.

That's the one crumb of comfort that I hold onto. Ashley didn't even afford Alan Shearer, a man he deemed as someone worthy of employing to keep us up, the courtesy of a phone call never mind anything else, to say look Al, thanks for all your efforts, but we have different ideas. Shearer got fuck all

And on that note... I cannot and never will accept Ashley and co as owner/custodians of our club. To treat someone like Alan Shearer with such contempt is deplorable. I cannot fucking wait for the day these cunts fuck off from our club. Because we will never ever get anywhere with them in control.

I'd happily trade 10 years of Pardew if it meant Ashley and DL getting out of Toon if you like.
