I know what you mean but it's the first match of the season.

No difference to any other game. Man Utd will finish above both us and Everton so I'd rather old Purple Nose had taken the points.

I'm just saying I'm not really concerned about any results other than our own at this stage of the season - Spurs could win at Everton, we could beat Man Utd at home again, whatever.  37 games left yet.  Same goes for Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool getting beat, I'm not really fussed either way at this point.

 That didn't really happen marra  :)

 Well not winning.  A draw vs the mackems at home is a kick in the balls for them but I'm sure they'll cope.

  • 2 weeks later...

We've extended our gap over Everton by 3 points, and closed on Arsenal & Spurs.

And despite winning 6-1, Arsenal's goal difference has decreased. (7-1 against Blackburn last year)

This will probably take a dip before clawing some back over the next 8 games, next 4 games we have to defend 12 points, but the 4 games after that we only picked up 2.

Think at the moment we don't look like we had a great start to the season but, after some time, it'll just look better and better because draws against Everton and Villa aren't bad results over the course of the whole sesaon. Same goes for a win over Spurs which is always terrific. Defeat at Stamford Bridge was almost expected somehow - despite the win there last season, too.

Two almost must win games now coming up and we'll be fine again.

Despite Liverpool having the joint-lowest 'required' points total of 6 points after 4 games, they've somehow managed to find themselves 4 points short of that total. Everton had the same required points, but have overachieved.
