Guest bimpy474
Krul Debuchy Taylor Coloccini Santon Tiote Anita Ben Arfa Cabaye Marveaux Cisse I'd love to see that side given free rein to attack. That's never going to happen under Pardew, he really doesn't believe in giving players licence to play.

Ash
Must say, Anita's a very tidy footballer but he just doesn't fit in yet. Pointless signing when you think about it. Just think how that money could've been spent. He'd be outstanding with a good manager, playing him with the right personnel in the right role. Why would that be with 2 holding midfielders? That's assuming they sit there diligently all game, won't happen. Tiote is regularly found not where he should be and while Anita is decent enough at pressing he's fairly easily bypassed IMO plus the space vacated by two powder puff attacking FBs who'd be getting little protection anyway infront of them would be a source of great delight for opposition counters running at 2 slow centre backs. Be good to see in theory but people are nuts IMO if they suddenly think playing those we'll start sweeping teams aside.

It would work IMO if we had a competent manager who knew how to effectively get teams to press and keep the ball but under Pardew i agree we would see 4-3s at best every week. Cajun
Right so you've convinced yourself that the most commonly used system in world football is no use. No, you were just so desperate to make the most dickish reply you could you completely missed the point of the question. As we are being vague I will say we have looked extremely vulnerable to he counter already without 6 players practically being all out attack. Other teams will have quicker centre backs, maybe one full back who sits more, attacking midfielders who are more willing to help defend, less rash holding midfielders or just generally better players. Or they don't a manager who plays a high line with defenders completely unsuited to that approach.

Our problem is not one of our 3 central midfielders sit there, they all roam about leaving us vunerable to the counter all the time. That formation would work if Tiote and Anita were told to sit there but Pardew hasn't figured that out yet, and never will now.
