A product of Millwall's academy he was a thoroughly average clogger with violent tendencies. Always played for the most rank average teams at the time such as Wimbledon, Spurs and Man City. His attempt to kill Pedro Mendes saw the end to his thoroughly forgettable top flight career.

As a teenager, highly rated player who made 20 appearances in the Premier League for Watford. The club fought tooth and nail to keep him in the country, with honorary President Elton John supporting the case, when he faced deportation back to Sierra Leone, and succeeded.

 

Now just 25, he has had spells with Brighton (loan), Blackpool, Mersin Idmanyurdu (Turkish Second Division), Gabala (Azerbaijan under then manager Tony Adams), before winding up in non-league football with Forest Green Rovers.

I remember that story when it happened.  Only 25 and his career has went to pot eh, he probably doesn;t care anymore, he will just be glad he didn't have to go back!

Salomon Olembé

So average they named him twice, René Salomon Olembé-Olembé started out his career in fine fettle making his name at Nantes before transferring to Provence giants Olympique 'OM' Marseille for the princely sum of €2m. His time at Marseille didn't prove as fruitful as the little man hoped as he was a bit part player. Salomon thought it best to leave Marseille in search of regular first team football and a loan move to Leeds ensued. This proved to be a piss poor idea as he joined a rudderless and cash-strapped outfit driving in the fast lane, destination:relegation. Salomon's contribution included playing a full 90 in the 6-1 merking at Fratton Park.

 

The following season Olembé was on the road again, this time to Al-Rayyan, the Qatari powerhouse where again he played a middling number of games. The green fields of Blighty must have weighed heavy on Olembé as his next move was to Wigan Athletic where again he failed to make an impact. Moves to Kayserispor and footballer graveyard Larissa followed but neither amounted to much. Olembé's career was now over despite him just turning 30, a crying shame for the left hand side utility man whose goals helped Cameroon win the 2002 ACON,  a competition where he was joint top scorer. Olembé was last spotted in 2010 being subbed off at HT for Burnley stiffs.

A potential move to Man Utd never came to fruition and his career took a backwards path from there, although he did spend a few years at Wolfsburg and Feyenoord. Ending up playing in Cyprus with Larnaca before retiring at just 32 after a series of injuries. Another in a long line of players who were "going to be" world class but ended up having average careers.

Assane N'Diaye (born August 1, 1974 in Nguekoh, Senegal, died February 13, 2008 in Dakar, Senegal) was a football defender from Senegal. As well as playing in the centre of defence, N'Diaye was accomplished as a defensive midfielder. His main footballing attributes were mostly physical, his strength and pace in particular, however he also was an unnervingly accurate passer. He played a key role for Shakhtar Donetsk during their first league win in 2002. Around the time of his move to Shakthar, he was very highly rated and great things were expected of him. His attributes on Championship Manager 01/02 in particular, showed his perceived potential. However, one of the criticisms directed at N'Diaye was his supposed lack of desire and determination, something which may have halted his assent to the top level of football.

 

He died in 2008 after a short illness at the age of 33.

Made his name in Europe with Malaga between 99-03 averaging 1 in 3, before spells at Sevilla & Portsmouth. Was linked with a move to Newcastle after the 2002 World Cup after appearing for Uruguay. Crashed his pick-up truck in 2006, fracturing his skull and needing an amputation below the knee.

 

Took part in a charity match in 2009 after a 3 year absence, scoring a penalty against an Argentina XI. Aimed to make it to the 2012 Olympics as a rower, but nothing came of it.

Very good one. We spent a while scouting him in 2001, and while we were watching him, a certain Jermaine Jenas emerged and broke into the team and we got him instead. I know he gets stick, but that was a good call from us.
