Mole_Toonfan
It would just lead to a perfect scenario for c***s like Mourinho, Pardew, Big Sam, Pulis IMO. Sit back, defend with 10 men back, get a set piece, win 1-0 or bring it to penalties How so? Those managers don't do well in the cups as it is right now. They'd only have to play against the big teams in the playoffs, there wouldn't be any need to attack or try to create something such as there would be if they played a smaller team What about in the CL or any competition for that matter? When Barca, Bayern or Real play a lesser team who defends and plays that style, they usually win. The best team always wins no matter what. That's just how it is. They are so much better than the other teams that it doesn't matter. It isn't fair that a team like Liverpool who rely on hard running and counter attacking with not much quality or flair beat Arsenal in a one-off game, having finished 20 points behind them and then they win the league See, I don't know what you mean by fair. The team that wins the playoffs is the best team. Now I can't go with that. They're the best team on that day. The one that matches up the best / is in the best form etc. They're not necessarily the best team over the year. Depends how it's done tbf, if you want to do just a one off game i agree. Mike
He's right though Absolutely nothing wrong with the format, we need a better way of limiting the ridiculous spending but that's more a government and/or FIFA thing. The spending genie is out of the bottle. Playoffs are parity.
Foluwashola
I'll stick by it, the average PL finish will never be as thrilling as in any given NFL season. You have one ending every so often in which two teams are down to the wire on matchday 38, but there's no fucking excitement at all when someone wraps it up 3 weeks before the end. Make it stop. Hanshithispantz
And there'll never be an NFL finish as thrilling as 2012. It is shit when it peters out to a 10 point lead like it has a coupke of times in recent years, but then you still have the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League (Euros/World Cup every other year too). No need to cheapen the league by adding forced tension to it imo, which is all play-offs are.

You get a lot more IMO with the League system. Title fight, top four fight, the fight to dodge the Europa League, relegation "dog fight". Then the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League, Champions League. There's so much to fight for. Football > any sport. It's no contest.

Any given team can win it all at the beginning of the season (except the Browns) and winning comes down to team cohesion and coaching rather than the team having the deepest pockets. Football is my favorite sport, more than American football, baseball, etc., but it's the worst-run, most corrupt, and least fair of any major sport. The PL is a complete scam. Hell, MLS, following a traditional American sports model, is already a better competition than any of the major European leagues.

Mole_Toonfan
That's the point I rarely do anymore, West Ham game was the first game i watched since Norwich probably and i only did that to see how the new players were getting on.
SEMTEX
Ahhhh. Everyone is so jaded on here. With good reason. The league has been shit for a decade man. There's been a handful of those in the NFL, tbh.
