Was he even there? Needs to see the fruits of his long hard summer toil first hand...surely? Oh,  hang on a minute...

He is supposed to be watching a game in Europe and meeting a club President afterwards.

An Idiot Abroad 3.

Cheers - gave me a much needed chuckle...

Desperate times & that.

The first bit is supposed to be true

That banner and the stewards feeble attempts to confiscate it, was the only highlight of today's game.

what happend?

Basically, at the first corner we had on that side this banner was unveiled - to the delight of everyone who could see it (think the corner didn't get past the first man).

Anyway, after the ball was cleared to the halfway line there was a break in play and they pulled it out again, cue more cheers and photographers rushing over to get a snap. The first steward who went to attempt to take it away had no success, so four or five came to attempt to remove it. Pantomime boos turned to genuine anger from the crowd and it became clear they were probably going to have to eject them to get this banner. In the end they gave up, but had several additional stewards placed around these lads - obviously with the instructions to forcibly take it from them should it make another appearance, which it didn't.

The crowd were incredibly kind to him and Ashley today.

Unfortunatly until it turn nasty, then they're not going anywhere.

I agree. People are probs worried about the short term consequences of it turning nasty though. Catch 22 if ever there was

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/joe-kinnear-hits-out-negativity-2222123

Joe Kinnear took Newcastle manager Alan Pardew to meet owner Mike Ashley in topless resort St Tropez and assured him: “I’ve got your back covered.”

Director of football Kinnear has been dismayed by the “negativity” which has engulfed the Toon’s difficult start to the season.

And he flew home from a scouting mission in Europe last night to learn stewards had removed a banner proclaiming him as “clown of the comedy club” at the goalless impasse with West Ham at St James’ Park on Saturday.

But Kinnear, 66, refuses to become the fall-guy for Newcastle’s problems, which were accelerated by Arsenal’s £10million bid for midfielder Yohan Cabaye on the eve of a heavy opening defeat at Manchester City.

In a frank, no-holds-barred interview with Mirror Sport, Kinnear insisted: “I don’t understand where the negativity has come from – we are two games into a 38-game season and already the doom-and-gloom merchants are looking for a scapegoat.

“Alan Pardew has signed 16 players costing £60m in the last two years, Newcastle United’s wage bill is now comfortably in the top 10 in the country, and he will continue to get all the support the club can reasonably provide.

“Last week we flew to Nice, and we were met by a private helicopter transfer to Mike Ashley’s yacht off St Tropez, and we spent seven hours thrashing out every idea, and how we plan to take the club forward.

“I listened to every word Alan and the owner had to say – along with chief scout Graham Carr, who was also there – and we talked about the next stage for Newcastle United and where we wanted to go.

“Before the season started, we had sat down and agreed the squad was big enough, and strong enough, to finish in the top half of the table. But we are working together – not plotting against each other.

“There seems to be a perception, from outside the club, that we are at loggerheads, but I don’t know why people are jumping on the bandwagon because it is a false picture.”

The only time Kinnear has acted alone, in terms of player recruitment, was to seal the season-long loan deal which brought France striker Loic Remy to Tyneside earlier this month.

And he did so in the knowledge that QPR had pipped Pardew in the £8m race for Remy last January.

Kinnear admitted: “I sanctioned the one-year loan deal for Loic Remy, and if it goes pear-shaped I will take responsibility for it.

“But if he scores goals and does well for us, Alan will be happy with our end of the deal; the player will be happy because he will come into contention for a World Cup place with France; and if both those things happen, Remy will go back to QPR as a World Cup player with a higher value than when he joined them, so everyone will come out of it well.”

Kinnear’s return in June to the Newcastle, where his brief stint as manager was curtailed by a heart problem in 2009, was slammed as a backward step by supporters.

His second coming was immediately laid open to ridicule when he gave a car-crash radio interview in which he pronounced the names of players wrongly and even referred to former managing director Derek Llambias as “Derek Lambisi.”

He conceded: “That gave people a stick to beat me with, but my intentions for the club are impeccable and we are working incredibly hard – together – to try and deliver good results on the pitch.”

Joe Kinnear came out fighting last night and insisted he was NOT a threat to Alan Pardew’s job security as Newcastle manager.

Former Toon boss Kinnear, 66, returned to the fold at St James’ Park two months ago to lend his experience as an intermediary between Pardew and owner Mike Ashley.

But Kinnear has been shocked by the fans’ hostile reaction, culminating in one banner - later removed by stewards - branding him a laughing stock as “clown of the comedy club” at Saturday’s grim 0-0 draw with West Ham.

Asked if he was a stalking horse who covets Pardew’s job, Kinnear’s response was defiant and unequivocal.

He said: “There’s no chance of that ever happening - I’m here to work with Alan Pardew, not against him.

“If something bad does happen, and Mike Ashley decides on changing (managers), my job would be to go out and find a replacement and be involved in the interview process.

“But we’re not thinking in those terms. It’s miles too early to talk about that because we’re trying to build a good, solid side here who can compete in the top half of the Premier League.

“Alan Pardew is a decent guy and a decent coach who has taken this club into Europe once already and it’s my job to help him succeed.

“I don’t pick the team, I don’t coach the players, I don’t deal with them on a day-to-day basis. If I am asked, I might suggest how we can tweak things a bit here or tweak things a bit there.

“If Alan wants a striker, I might suggest one or two names, but I don’t do things behind his back. I’ve never been to a meeting where he hasn’t been present.”

Newcastle are still waiting for their first goal of the new campaign ahead of Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup booby-trap at Morecambe.

"we had sat down and agreed the squad was big enough, and strong enough, to finish in the top half of the table"

and there it is. We are not signing anyone. Also the Remy bit sounds shit, so we have no deal to sign him permanently and are basically just helping him get into the france team and help Qpr out with wages. Brilliant.

Looks like an unexciting final week of the transfer window. How can anyone be happy with a squad that struggled to stay up and how we are playing is quite frankly disturbing. At least JFK had a go on a yacht though...

Love how he's so desperate to claim they're working together then openly admits he acted alone to sign Remy.

'We're best mates, HONEST!' Protesting way too much once again. Spineless as he is, I can imagine Pardew's fucking raging at the way he's been undermined this summer.
