Bleeeurrrgh!
Stuy_O
Ashley would have rubber stamped the Cabaye deal, not Kinnear. If they wanted more money they could have got it.

Yep Nice little pay off so he can take all the flack. Ashley really thinks we're that thick.
Cajun
The hotel that is constantly on fire? Aye. Must be where the Mackems do all their of the business during the transfer window.
AyeDubbleYoo
Wouldn't Ashley want to push the story about not making purchases, rather than not getting enough for Cabaye?
Stuy_O
Article basically suggests Kinnear sealed the deal without finalising it with Ashley, which is complete and utter bollocks. Not as if it was a last minute bid so JFK HAD to accept it. Ashley would have been just fine with the 15mil profit.
Kanj
I mentioned this is another thread. half time at the derby, bloke who sits near me in the milburn paddock had recently returned from business trip to Dubai and said he had been informed sandman hotels had been in talks with Ashley since October and were planning a takeover in march but Ashley wanted to delay it. No offence but that sounds like a load of s****. I know - straws being clutched at. he seemed quite sincere about it. oh well, we can still live in hope. I'm just desperate to believe there is a buyer out there. Interesting....Their CEO owning the Dallas Stars is decently relevant. Hope he's partnering with Jerry Jones
Guest strongbow69
Wouldn't Ashley want to push the story about not making purchases, rather than not getting enough for Cabaye? how? why? Its quite apparent Ashley signs the cheques isn't it?, Ashley would then have to say 10m was the bid ceiling for a player valued at 15m

alexf
That article about Ashley making funds available but kinnear messing up etc is a load of bollocks. Ashley was the one who employed the bloke and anyone with a ounce of knowledge about football could have told him Kinnear was an absolute joke and totally un-equipped to perform in that role. He'll have seen people not renewing tickets and figured Kinnear leaving now would buy back some fans

What a name They're real. And also Canadian. Sounds like a logical progression: 1) Own 27 hotels in British Columbia. 2) Buy a British football club. 3) Profit. Let me just fly to Dubai to confirm. They are here in Alberta too, there is one of those sandman hotels in the shopping complex close to my house. Not sure why they would be interested in us or if they would have the financial clout to make us relevant again.

Stifler
Sandman own the hotel opposite SJP, the one with the Shark bar, I doubt a hotel company would be interested in buying a football club.

Unless they actually build that mega casino/hotel onto a Gallowgate extension (ala. Shepherd's grand plan)?

They can't, UK law forbids any sort of mega casino, a few cities applied for a 1 off licence (including us under the Shepard proposals) the government were going to allow a few years ago, Manchester with Man City won, however the government sharp changed their mind. Exiled in Texas
Cool. Gaglardi has done a nice job reworking the Dallas Stars front office and head coach since taking over the team from Tom Hicks (of Liverpool Hicks-Gillette fame). If true that would be a good ownership team, with a realistic plan for making progress. They don't throw money around like its water but they do make careful investments in players
Stifler
Guys, this isn't going to happen, it's just forum rumours, even then it comes from 'the bloke sat next to me'. I sent Mark Cuban a tweet a month ago asking him to buy us, we have more chance of that coming off.
Kanj
I don't see a situation where Gaglardi would be a football club owner, however if he ever were to be one, it would be him and/or partnership versus the hotel company Sandman. He definitely knows who we are given their Newcastle property is a one of 2 they have in the UK. FWIW when he bought the building to build the Sandman Signature: http://www.northerndesignawards.com/entry/2012/sandman-signature-hotel-newcastle
