The other games today - 2013/14

Recommended Posts

So already we've seen:

Villa beat Arsenal at the Emirates.

Cardiff beat Man City (okay, at home).

Southampton beat Liverpool at Anfield.

West Brom beat Man Utd at Old Trafford.

Wonder how we'll get on against the teams we can't compete with this season. Be nice to improve on the 2 home wins we recorded last season.

This Real Madrid team is just a patchwork of individuality, they play sequentially, one after the other, they doesn't seem to have a gameplan, I think Ozil's loss is tragic, he was the only "flair" player in the team alongside Xabi Alonso also Illaramendi and Isco are talented but they get bullied up against bigger opposition. It's going to be a very tough season for them, they'lll struggle every week IMO.

Atletico just might be the most well drilled team in Europe.

Absolutely ridiculous how compact they are, there is almost zero gaps to exploit.

Ball goes to CR, 3 men on him, on Di Maria 2 men. Gabi and Tiago didn't even defending that much since Madrid had no midfield presence.

Ancelotti also walks away with an unwanted record.... first Real manager to lose to Atletico in the league for first time since 1999.

Not even Carlos Quieroz lost to them ffs.

Can't remember who but some journo was tipping for them for the CL this week.

You're spot on though, they're very hard to play against. A bit of a defensive version of BVB.

Long deserved n all. HTA!

Still think Atletico are desperate for a creative midfield option. They could do worse than getting Diego back, or even Mata if his situation continues.

Considering how they play wouldn't it be a bit counter productive? Mata wouldn't be able to put in the work Simeone wants from his players either.

I think eventually Oliver Torres will force his way in anyway.

Also, am I the only one who thinks bale and ronaldo partnership won't work ?

Sure, they could both score hat-tricks against Getafe or Osasuna, but when they'll face a well organized CL team...

It'd be an option for certain games.

Still struggle for goals often at home/away to the lesser sides where so much intensity isn't needed. Get your point though.
