Have some of this.... Screenshot_20241107_143425.thumb.jpg.8ccd67f3cc5c748ea1e7d10037bb3cd1.jpg.4975f6b8ce7adf89b39f064ca2c76f08.jpg

Hall has a massive chance. It's his to lose in some ways. Tino has a huge uphill battle on his hands that's he's very likely to lose unless injuries occur to TAA and James (very likely) before the tournament.

go on then... when was the last time 3 Newcastle players started a competitive international for England?

Been having a little look around this site. Looks like it was designed in 1992 but has some useful stuff:

Here's all NUFC players who played for England while they were NUFC players. Even gives the years they were an England player while NUFC.

http://www.englandfootballonline.com/TeamClubs/Clubs/NewcastleUnited.html

You can then go to the player and see what games they were in and the lineup. Lots of missing hyperlinks for the matches but you can copy and paste them into a search engine and the page'll show up.

I think I found one competitive game with 3 NUFC starters: England Georgia, 30.4.1997 - Shearer, Batty, Lee

A couple of notes:

Howey didn't play a competitive game - seems to have been 2 NUFC starters and 1 sub in his four friendly games.

Beardsley only played in 2 competitive games for England after his return, Barton was the only NUFC player also in one of those squads (though Blackburn Shearer and Batty were there).

Anyway, I've found a couple more with 2 NUFC starters and a sub, but I'm bored with it now so can anyone else find a 3 starter competitive game more recent than April 1997?

James is too injury prone atm to lock down RB, then as we’ve seen under Southgate, TAA at RB isn’t nailed on as much as it should be. With Walker aging, there’s a chance for him to make a good case as a top 2 player.

Gets first games under Tuchel at RB, it’s his to lose you could say.

I thought Jenas never played for England until he left, backwater, Newcastle for the bright lights of Laaandaaan

if Kane can't perform with all these runners round him it's time to keep him on the bench and look at alternatives before the World Cup.

Nah he'll use the runners to get a penalty and then put that away.

TAA will be the main RB under Tuchel I've got no doubt about that. Southgates loyalty to Walkers pace are the reason he doesn't have another 25 caps already to his name. I'll be shocked if Tino plays any games at the World Cup, good chance of going though.

I dunno. WC26 is still 18 months away and you'd expect Tino to have developed by then.

He's a more ideal replacement for Walker in terms of profile when you need a more defensive RB, so he should play a bit I think. Not as much as TAA obviously.
